captfitz: Steam now says it can't 'contact the key server' when I try to retrieve my Borderlands key. Maybe they're trying to fix it
You use your CD key in the website. Steam doesn't have anything to do with it once you get the CD Key.

You still have to get the key from Steam, which captfitz had problems with.
I just did it, it should still work.

Borderlands is the last non-Steam game I bought on Steam I think, before I decided not to use Steam anymore when I don't have to. Good luck for me I guess.

Vestin: BTW - the wallpaper resolutions once again prove that 16:10 is not dead :].

Wishbone: Why would it be?
The number of monitors using it diminishes unnervingly quickly :\.

I would love to be proven wrong, though. For example - I'm casually searching for a 120Hz one and the best resolution I could find was 1920x1080. Since this gear is useless when dealing with sprite-based games anyway, I've been successfully delaying the purchase thanks to all the stuff I have from GOG... But I still haven't seen one both 16:10 and 120Hz.

Yeah, I misunderstood that part. That particular server error tends to be fairly common as far as I can tell, I've had it a few times in the past when there was too much traffic.

From what I can tell, anybody that buys the game before Oct., 12th from steam is entitled to the reservation without needing the GOTY edition.

Here in Denmark there is a brilliant site which compares prices of all kinds of hardware between a bunch of Danish online vendors. It lets you search nearly any parameter. I had a look at monitors there, and here are a few results you may find interesting:

16:9 monitors: 274 models

16:10 monitors: 168 models

120Hz monitors: 2 models, one 16:10 (1680x1050) and one 16:9 (1920x1080)

So basically, while you are correct that more 16:9 monitors than 16:10 monitors are being made (and these are just the models that are for sale, the ratio in current production is probably even more skewed towards 16:9), 16:10 is by no means dead. Also, very very few 120Hz monitors are made at all, but of those that I found, the ratio was 50:50.

Also keep in mind how many 16:10 monitors have already been sold and are being used around the world. Windows XP can't be said to be "dead" either, even though no copies have been sold lately.
The reason for the drop in 16:10 is purely cost based for the LCD manufacturers. I think it's something like 8 extra screens which can be sent into either tv's or monitors at 16:9, 16:10 is only used for monitors and so isn't as cost effective unfortunately.

Using a Polish equivalent: 288 of 16:10, 491 of 16:9.
Sure - we can still use the 16:10s we have and buy the ones that are not yet out of sale. That doesn't change the fact that there doesn't seem to be any new being made. This means that, sooner or later, I'll probably have to switch... and I don't want that to happen D:.

Some of the earlier 120Hzs were 16:10, but only 1680x1050. Here's a list of ALL 120s from Nvidia's site:

Thanks for the heads-up! Now I just need to wait for the demo to be released...

I hope they don't announce an engine change or anything like that.

fisk0: Good thing I repurchased Borderlands on Steam a few months ago then, even though I already had the retail version.
I had gotten the access code, though their First Access site is quite confusing, I got confirmation that I had registered, and the confirmation mail said I had to click the url in the mail to activate my code ... which got me to the same form I had already filled in, after entering the code and e-mail address again I got to a page that only said "Go HOME". I hope that means it's activated, I haven't gotten any further e-mails.
If you can enter the early access site, your keys is activated. Just enter your key and email and password on the early access site again to log in.
Thanks, mon ami!
Someone, gift me Borderlands !
