pakopakojr: Politicians. 'Nuff said.

Many are "lifers" and need to get votes. So they do knee-jerk reactions to everything.

Aveweto: well what other jobs are there for people that can only talk and every word they say is a lie?
Actors?

Protoss: ...Now you know how bad censorship in Germany really is, and thank God they did not manage to enforce it on our providers! ...
Most of it sounds perfectly reasonable. Best example that censorship in germany actually is rather harmless. Who needs child pornography, ultra nationalist propaganda or Wolfenstein games (uncensored version) anyway? All of these things are illegal anyway.

Just note that parents cannot control everything their children do. And I'm quite sure that upcoming nazis are seriously hurt in their development by not being able to see all the nazi scum that is produced.

I feared that censorship would contain much, much, much more. Obviously not. Probably much less than in other countries.

How effective are these blockings anyway?

And for the (probably rather few) false positives on the list - it's always the same old question: Who will watch the watch-guards? Very old problem, no good solution in sight.

"separation of powers"
Sadly, that's just a theory.
I still find it creepy that even though I live in India, I still come across some genuinly creepy creepy creepy creepy sites like those inciting extremist ideas. And it was a porn site.
