Don't know about graphics, gameplay, but storywise this should rock!
I do wonder how it will mix the story from the books with the game.
Oooh, looking forward to this one!

Speaking of GoT, is the previous game (the RTS) any good?

It's pretty bad, I wouldn't bother.

I can't help but think it's a terrible idea.

While I haven't really paid that much attention to the games or read the books, I haven't heard anything particularly good about the developer's previous efforts at a GoT game or enthusiasm about the direction this game is taking.

And it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that Atlus is publishing the console version. It's just not something their core fanbase of JRPG fans would really want or be interested in. Can't help but feel a little betrayed since they seem to be catering more towards gamers who violently hate anything that seems remotely Japanese that accidentally got sucked in by Demon's Souls (but instead of trying to get Dark Souls and other From Software games because DS and 3DDGH did pretty well, get more questionable stuff like Cursed Crusade or GoT), or the hipster SMT "fans" that only got into the series because of jpop and pretending to be Japanese simulators, than their long term fans.

Especially with the way they've jerked around all the Growlanser and Dept. Heaven fans this month. Who in the marketing department thought it was a good idea to drum up interest in Gungnir by pissing off Growlanser fans, who have been neglected in the west for four or five years?

Er, I'm going off topic. Sorry.
Well... I've just finished the first chapter, and I must say that I am very pleasantly surprised. After how the game's been bashed by reviews, I thought it's gonna be shit, but now I only agree with one thing: Writing is completely brilliant. Everything about the game's story that I've seen so far is great, from choice of protagonists to general dialogue.

Now, keep in mind that I am very forgiving fella, but the rest of the game doesn't seem all that bad either. Even thou controls are sort of wonky, graphics don't look top notch, voice acting is average at best, but ... It's fun. I am really enjoying myself troughout the fights, I like character developement, and I like the environments and setting (obviously.) The only thing I really dislike is how linear it is and that you don't even get to explore too much in hub areas.

Basically, it's an average RPG with very above average writing and if what I'm told is true, story as well. Do try it.
What irks me is that this should have been so much more. But I guess you really should count your blessings if the game isn't complete crap (which it could very well have been).

Played the RTS. It's not a masterpiece of anything, but not as bad as everybody says. I suggest you wait a few months to see if they patch up the problems right( especially the path-finding)

I actually own the game it seems, probably traded it for a santa hat back in december :D

Not installed it yet, though. Perhaps I should try it?

As it was when i last gave it a go a few weeks ago, it still had the same problems. Still, keep an eye on the producer's site, and if they patch it up right, it could be a decent game.

Well if you wanted it to be a free roaming RPG like TES, I can see how you could be a disappointed a lot. But as a storydriven RPG ... It's no Witcher, sure, but it's pretty good anyway. Yeah, that would mean worse than books or the series, still, at least it tells a completely 'new' story that's good - which is all I want of game of thrones, really (I could do with stronger choices / consequences system, then again I might have not seen it yet.)
