StingingVelvet: I didn't like Oblivion anywhere near as much as Morrowind either, but calling it a bomb is just flat-out incorrect.
I should have been clearer. It bombed for me personally, as I've loved Morrowind. I might have exgerrated a bit, but from what I've heard back when it came out, a lot of people were dissapointed. There was praise for the parts Oblivion did really well (that would be quest design and atmosphere imo), but it took a lot of flak for all its simplyfications and shortcomings as well as showing a lot of "consolisation" (interface, e.g.). The "general feel" back then was a mixture of praise and disappointment, even among the (german) gaming media. I can't really back this up, as metacritic is, of course, very positive and the game sold a lot, but still, this is how I remember the release.

Addiditonally the german version actually did bomb in the translation department. You remember Fallout or Arcanum being played with an idito char? That was roughly the level of the translation, at least where it wasn't flat out missing...

There are people who complain about every game ever made, that's not really evidence of anything. The vast, vast majority loved Oblivion. People like you and me in our little niches were disappointed by it or even hated it, but that means little overall. It was a massive success and was well received, there is no argument against that, only acceptance.

That said it is of course fine to express that you thought it sucked. I thought it was pretty disappointing too. Morrowind is my favorite game of all time and Oblivion wouldn't crack the top 100. I just think it's important to keep the right frame of mind when saying such things and not act like the game was considered crappy in general.
like it or not, its going to be a duel within bf3 vs mw3 but looking at other games witcher 2 has a good chance as well as deus ex hr, for at least on the pc . Consoles probably got more good games like uncharted 3 , gears of war 3 etc .

Adzeth: Spike.com is totally legit, son. You should take them seriously, because they're street, yo. :p

Foxhack: Spike is as street as Regis Philbin.
That kind of reminds me of that sketch from In Living Color, The Honeymooners 1993.

Austrobogulator: How to be nominated for GOTY:
Step 1: Generate hype.
Step 2: There is no step 2.
INFINITE DRAGONS!
Game of the Year: the Nobel Peace Prize of gaming.

Razzoul: Wait, who nominated Skyrim and Skyward Sword for game of the year? I have heard people say it looks like it might be game of the year or will be, but I haven't seen anyone saying that Skyrim has been nominated for game of the year.

/edit: ... and for my GotY pick: I've bought/played like 4 new games this year and The Witcher 2 was definitely the best one of them, so I it'll be that.
Wait, you didn't know that Spike has a time machine just for this purpose? They have nominated games for game of the year, before they came out, before. So either they must have a time machine to tell the masses that the game is great before it is released or they are just idiots! And we all know that every video game reviewer must go through rigorous training before they become one. So the possibility of them being that stupid is so low that I wouldn't worry about it.

( I have a weird sense of humor. I am sorry if you don't find this funny.)

Antimateria: They truly missed couple of games but of course they remembered valve with portal. Doesn't seem to matter what game it is. It's always epicly good. I guess they have to lick ass and hope that episode 3 would eventually see the light of day.

Edit: *looks in steam* "Pre-load skyrim that you can play it right away when it's released" ...Well, makes sense and why not. Got nothing important to download anyway at this time.

What happened?

I used to love working out what you were saying, now it makes sense there is no fun im it
Heh.. x2. Don't worry my fellow man. You propably will be granted your wish. This was just a phase that I didn't care about you guys. With all my heart (also some bone) I don't like some of you but I've had trouble to go nuts over your gog-language speaking dildos.. also, I was pretty busy playing witcher 2 and I finally finished, with hard.
Mostly the reason has been that I've been too sober.
