Asteroids: I have a GPU Scaling option, but the three options are greyed out. Assorted searching on the net reveals that I need to set the resolution to something non native, but that doesn't work either.

Maybe I'll buy nVidia next time ........
Is your screen connected through DVI or VGA? The former is preferable, since VGA-connected screens often try to detect where the image's limits are (by detecting a non-signal, ie. black) and stretch the rest to fill the screen (thus making the GPU scaling unusable), while DVI is digital and knows exactly where the limits of the picture are, and as such can obey the GPU scaling.

Yes, the screen is connected via DVI.
