If anyone was waiting to get it, the steam version just got patched with the uPlay always-on DRM finally taken away :)

At the moment the steam servers are down so I can't give you the url to the patch notes, but I managed to read them before it did :P

That was the announcement that they planned to remove it (I couldn't find the thread). Now they've actually deployed the patch that removes it.
It's good that they removed it but i'm still boycotting Ubisoft (and have done for over a year now) simply down to the fact that they even included it in the first place aswell as the new Driver game and many others still including the horrible DRM (even when the games are on steam).

Devs like Ubisoft need to learn that DRM only hurts the legitimate customer whilst pirates play the game DRM free and are treated better than those who pay for their games that include DRM.
Any news if other digital distributers get the DRM-free treatment?
The what now? Something about Dust? Ubi who?

Meh.
But Steam is still there or is there somewhere a DRM-free version ?
(Checked on Gamersgate but it still has "Other DRM" which can mean anything and nothing)

Assuming you're actually interested in Ubisoft's games, I'd suggest a different strategy. Don't buy any of their games that use this crappy DRM, but do buy games that don't have it or that have it removed. I believe that would send a more effective message that this type of DRM is unacceptable.

Just a thought.
Cheers, I can buy it now.
Ubisoft weren't lying? No. Can't be. Clearly they're up to something. It's going to be like April Furs Day but with DRM, I betcha.
No, Ubisoft, please! Not in the DRM closet! NOOO!!
