Just very happy about this. I was really worrying about how I was going to get a load of furniture to the tip (moving from an unfurnished room to a furnished one). My friend said to post ads on Freecycle, within a day I've shifted or arranged to shift the entire contents of the room! I'm amazed because it's crap furniture.

It may not seem surprising that people will accept free stuff, but I honestly thought that a cd rack and a 6 yr old bulky computer desk had less than no value.
Yeah, that's one way to do it. You'd be surprised, especially during a down turn what people will take. I've found all sorts of good stuff on the curb in rich neighborhood.
I once found this sweet car for free. All I had to do was fix it, which required breaking the glass to get in and then figuring out a way to get it started. ; )

But seriously, I have some old transformers I need to get rid of, which might be tricky since they probably have PCBs inside. Gotta hit up the hazmat drop-off to see if they'll take them.

Surely transformers toys will go on ebay like hot cakes?
Haha - I wish it were capital-T Transformers. For one, they weigh a lot less.

Edit: I remember several years back, visiting some friends in Denver, they were trying to get rid of this plastic monstrosity of a kids outdoor playset. Posted on Freecycle and they had a call within ten minutes. The guy was there in another 20 minutes, we had it apart about ten minutes later, and it was a memory within the hour of posting. Pretty great.

Anything marked as "free" on freecycle or craigslist goes really fast. Usually the vultures that drive pickup trucks around collecting everything they can (then holding a garage sale with the free stuff) are the first to respond, but I've found some genuine folks who wanted some of the stuff.

Either way works for me. Rubbish tips (I'm not sure what they're called in the states) are essentially defunct. I'm just amazed how quickly stuff I'd dump can be cleared.

If a rubbish tip is a public landfill, then it's called the landfill or dump.

no tips have recycling facilities etc and are run as private businesses (the owners have the right to pick over the tipped items and take what they want/ sell on the tipped items)

If you have Jazz, I'll be very interested. I too have my collection minus Jazz of course. I'd love the chance to find the ones I used to have because my cousins stole them from me.
LOL - electrical transformers. I don't think they'd put PCBs into kid's toys.
