Huff: I'm surprised no one has mentioned Kingdom of Loathing. You only get so many turns a day but its free

http://www5.kingdomofloathing.com

or Project Zomboid ( I know I know......its not free but there is a demo

http://projectzomboid.com/blog/
Project Zomboid is finished? i thought they just started working on it.
Give "Dark Disciples" and "Dark Disciples II" a spin. They are 2D top-down RPGs similar to what Spiderweb makes in some respects. Lately I have been reading the Conan books, and can't help but get the feeling that Dark Disciples is spiritually related, in terms of the places that can be visited. Very much D&D esque, too. Check the attached pictures to get a brief look at the game, if you are interested.

grviper: Spiderweb released all Exile games free.
Since when excatly? They did release the Blades of Exile as open source but that does not include the three Exile games.

Odd... I could've sworn they did and I read it on the corresponding games' pages. Ah, well... Getting Ultimas here will be cheaper.
If you have the original Deus Ex, the namelessmod is worth checking out.

svmariscal: Really? EotB is probably my favourite old RPG. Say, have you played it recently? like, in a windows installer package or anything? >_>
If you have the game you can just run it in DOSBox, not necessarily in Windows ('cause I run it in DOSBox under Linux).

overread: The Spirit Engine 2
http://thespiritengine.com/tse1.html

The first game is totally free, whilst the second is free, but runs on a donation (ie you can download and play all you want at no cost, but if you want you can put some money into the donation box on the site). The game is totally worth the cost and, for an essentially freeware indy project is very well put together and certainly made to a high standard
I'd like to second this suggestion on The Spirit Engine and The Spirit Engine 2.

Yes I know it, but the only copies I have access to are non-legit ones, and I'd rather have the game available here for purchasing.

Ah I see. I thought you were asking whether there is a software for EOB that is similar to what Exult and Pentagram are for Ultima VII and Ultima VIII.
