That would be useful.
Interesting view on the matter really. Personally I think the two go hand in hand.

I would never want to see 'community' and 'sales' as two separate entities. You need a positive community / customer relation to increase your sales and maintain a good reputation in the market. People like to have that warm fuzzy feeling of being part of something that they consider to be a good initiative. The forum platform is a good start, and I saw facebook , twitter and youtube as channels being used as well.

The two will have to go hand in hand. Especially on the internet where word of mouth is very important. Your best advertisement are there people that float around the forums and spread the word about GoG as a good place to get game [x, y, z]. Clearly you want to keep people interested, so you must direct resources towards either 'deals', 'new games' or.. how to put it.. 'community interaction'?

bazilisek: Hope so, hope so. Not that I PM much, but as Steam recently started really pushing its community aspects forward, it would be perhaps wise to introduce user profiles here on GOG, catching the bandwagon at least with one hand before it's gone.
There's a lot that GOG could do with regard to community features. I just hope they get the messaging system (and subsequently support) back on track before they try anything new.

I agree with that. But that's why I want to see them prioritise customer support and fixing major issues in existing titles. That's already long overdue and we've already seen them focus too much time and effort on irrelevant features instead of sorting these things.

They can build on what they've got as much as they like, but preferably only after they stabilised the the core aspects of the site. Otherwise they're just building on an increasingly rickety foundation.

What I meant was that PM and user profiles go hand in hand. You could have one without the other, but they really only make sense together.

Just a clarification there, I agree with the rest of you post fully.

Some sites don't have profiles but instead have a "PM user" option on their forum posts. If GOG was to add a PM system with minimal effort then that's the way I'd go about it.

But customisable user pages would be nice too.
Hmm... sounds more like we need to make some sort of browser plugin that makes the boards amazing. Although the lack of a way to view your posts is pretty shocking.

Some kind of pages feature might be useful.
