I think I'm done for good with Bioware...

I didn't like KOTOR and I'm still made about the disappearing NWN DLC's, so I don't technically buy stuff from them anymore either.

Yeah, I like how they simultaneously prove his point and give him evidence for the next time he tells someone not to buy a game from them.

There's a huge difference between criticism and telling someone to **** off. Of course, I have no idea what the guy posted, but if it were the equivalent of telling them to **** off and was not, instead, mere constructive criticism, then well, what did the guy expect?

Granted they should have only banned his forum account, but BioWare/EA are not the only ones who remove access to games for similar behavior. Take note that both Impulse and Steam have done similar.

There's a reason I don't use Steam forums. It amounts to the old proverb of not excreting in the bed you have to lie in.

This thing kinda blew up, it's all over the internet and many gaming sites are publishing story about this. Kinda interesting to see whether or not EA/Bio make an official statement and if this has any "end results" :)

I remember a long time ago a thread on the Steam forums by a guy complaining he'd had his account disabled. Burton I think it was, stated that's what happens when you call Steam support idiots to their faces. So the comment about "EA devil" is pretty much inline with that.

The guy did get his Steam account back, once he apologized. But remember that when contacting their less-than-stellar support.

As I tweeted earlier, I find it rather disappointing that sites find this news worthy, but couldn't care less about the ongoing 2K-Steam scam we've been victim to for half a year.

I don't care if he did tell them to fuck off. They sold him a product with the expectation that he would be able to play it. If they want to take that back, they need to provide a full refund for all games they've taken away.

They're the "professionals" here, you ask a bad customer to leave and not come back, you don't kick their ass and take their money and your merchandise back.

Mafia 2. They keep giving us release dates, then not releasing the game. While still taking $60 for each "pre-order". Just think of all the interest they make off that without having to actually providing a product.

I've read through a bit of the threads. I don't have time to read any significant amount of this stuff during my workday. But I see people mentioning stuff like "Just download a crack for your game" and "All the more reason to just download cracks of EA games". Now is this stuff normally tolerated or are they afraid to ban half their community while it's foaming at the mouth and they're (Bioware/EA) fighting PR nightmare over how their newest blockbuster is being perceived?

At any rate, I thought they deserved an honor that I haven't bestowed on anyone for over 20 years, and I'd always thought if I ever got around to it, it would most certainly be EPIC earning it. I probably won't be playing their DA2 game at all, but should I, I'll "download" it and send them a letter explaining why, my yearly income, and the portion of it I spend on gaming.

Allegedly, the key word you used there is allegedly. We only have the guy's word for that and EA/Bioware cannot legally give their side of the story, they are not allowed to publish private conversation details with customers. In my experience you do have to be insulting/abusive to customer support before they ban you so I take what the guy says with a pinch of salt. As a wise man once said "Chat log or GTFO".

People are just jumping on this as another excuse to give Bioware a kicking, if EA were really demanding that everyone bashing DA2 on the Bioware boards has their account banned then there would be more than just this one example.

Completely unacceptable. I'm with orcish on this one, and truly this is a shining example of how the consumer would be better off pirating the game than continuing to interact with a bunch of big fat conglomerate babies.
