Flipcode was a community driven site focusing on the technical side of game development and programming. It had a quite large following for its time, but had to close down in 2005. The site still have a large archive which may interest you if you like those aspects of gaming.

Bottom-line: If you are interested in game coding and the technicalities behind games, check it out and maybe help it resurrect itself again as it is community driven.

Wow - flipcode. That takes me back. Unfortunately that link isn't resolving for me but try it again later. Thanks for sharing the news.

edit: and as soon as I posted it suddenly started working. Looks good so far - it definitely reminds me of the old flipcode.

Would somebody with very limited knowledge of such technical issues find something useful there?

I think so. I am as technical as a caveman who have sever problems understanding how the wheel works, bust still find things interesting and useful to know. Will never make any use of it, still fun to read.
