rtcvb32: it would take 16,000 years to exhaust all the codes....
avatar
madth3: Also, there might some checksum algorithm involved which would reduce a few years..
If there's 1 character for checksums, then that drops it by 32 times, and a second one a thousand times. But even then, the extreme example is unlikely to happen, meaning there are no shortage of codes... yeah 16 years probably would be too short, but i doubt a few million gift codes are created and used in a year vs billions every second.

But i suppose there's other things to consider; What exactly i'm not sure.

I just don't get why they remove functionality from the site....
Removing history of redeemed codes. Why? What was the point? It served a purpose at least for some group of people while not costing got a cent.

Its like somebody mentioned before . change for the sake of change. Not to improve but to make it different.

I could see removing dead codes like the fallout trio i happened to have in my gift options that can never be redeemed... But i still have the codes, it just has 0 games in it now... making it worse than useless.

truhlik: Eyy, What happened with redeemed codes list? Can I somehow get it back? :(
Yay! Suddenly I don't have to scroll through several kilometres of redeemed gifts to find those few unredeemed ones!

Of course, a toggle switch would be nice to have in the rare cases one might wonder what gifts have been successfully given.

Yes a toggle or separate section for redeemed gifts and ones still valid to give away would be better... Or maybe for redeemed ones, perhaps a 'download log as zipped txt file' which includes the used code, games it had, and who redeemed them per code, as well as date bought and date redeemed. That would be all the information you need, and i doubt they would get very long even if you did hundreds of gift codes..

Format suggested:
Code: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
Date Purchased: 1/1/1970
Purchaser: Me! :)

Tyrian 2000, Gifted Friend, 1/2/1970
Ultima 4, Gifted friend, 1/7/1970
Zombie Shooter 2, Me! :), 12/12/2013

Code: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
And purchase price.

Maighstir: And purchase price.
The codes currently don't say how much you purchased them for, so it might not keep track of that... Although you get an email that tells you that information, so i don't know. If i programmed it, i'd certainly put it in, perhaps even have checkboxes of what elements of information you wanted with the txt file to make it easier...

But i'm not on the payroll... so i can't do it... I could apply but i'm not sure i would get hired, as my experience is quite limited...

Have you talked to support? They might turn it into a generic code

No, not yet. Beyond removing it from my gift code collection i wouldn't expect too much, the codes have been... distributed already. It's unlikely they would return to the pool of codes that haven't been given out. Not that it matters much.

I don't get it.

If codes were redeemed then people have fallout games on their account. If codes are not redeemed gog might turn them to generic code which can be redeemed for any ten dollar game or offer you a replacement. Not sure what is the issue on your part.

I'm not sure why i should get generic codes worth $10 each for gamecodes that were free...
