So Daggerfall has been coming up a bit around here recently. (Must be related to that Skyrim thing somehow...) I'm curious if anyone has a favorite/memorable character.

I'll start with mine.

Aside: Daggerfall is freeware as of July 9, 2009. Help yourself to it

If you don't pick the ebony dagger at character creation she starts as weak as a fruit bat. Her low luck and steel prohibition limit the armor early game.

By late game however she is an all powerful spell caster and a daunting opponent in melee. A true terror of the night.
Back when the game was new-ish, I made a hairy guy that ran around naked. Good times.

Sounds like he'd get eaten before making it out of the first dungeon. Let me guess, he just ran through it?

Combination of running and climbing through places. I didn't actually have any goals for that character, I just traveled around. I didn't understand English back then, so the game was just a "run around and kick things" sandbox.

That's a pretty good way to take the game.

Even if you are trying to rush along the storyline there are weeks you have to kill waiting for letters and messages.

But then if you miss one of the deadlines you only get one more chance to complete it before you fail the main quest forever. Modern games are too soft. :D

A lycanthrope? I remember those being very powerful in Daggerful. They didn't need armor even in human form.

"You dream of the moon and of a man that is less than a man."

Heh heh, don't forget the bugs.

I remember grid searching a smaller island for a dungeon one of the main quests sent me to - without giving me a map.

I also remember resorting to crouch+levitate to glitch through a wall after spending hours trying to get the sleeping god to wake up.

True, lycanthropy does make it so most enemies can't touch you.

It's more powerful than vampirism in theory. (In practice one immortal character is about as effective as another.)
