keeveek: It's still a mystery why GOG hasn't fixed this for all these years. Especially for a game that popular.

But thankfully, with fan patches you can blow up children's heads, rip off their arms and slash them in half with lasers. Which is good.
And the thieving little bastards deserve every bit of it!!

F4LL0UT: I remember how I learned about this perk. My brother was walking around some town, a kid threw a rock at him, his character automatically retaliated with a shotgun (IIRC blowing the kid's head off). A few hours later he discovered that perk on his character screen.

BlueMooner: Wait, there's a Childkiller perk?? I didn't know that ! +1 to you Tim for pointing that out.

BlueMooner: So true, so true.
It's technically a trait, but not a perk. But yes, you can get it. You have to kill 2-3 children, and you get it. It makes NPCs act differently towards you...let's just say they won't be as friendly.

Just as a little sidenote, as far as I'm concerned, that's how you do 'killing children is wrong' properly, not by preventing players from doing so mechanically. When you kill a few children and the entire game world is calling you a dick for doing that, well that's what I call getting a message across.

Yep, it works a lot better than Bethesda's love for character shields. I hate that mechanic...especially when the shielded character is really annoying.

It's still better than arcanum when they were forced to remove all children from the game by the publisher ;P if I recall correctly, ofc.

Though annoying, that is still not as jarring as shooting some guy at point blank range with a shot gun that can decapitate a 9 foot tall mutant lizard, and watching him shrug it off.

Well, it's important for crucial NPCs. I bet many people would be annoyed if they accidentaly killed important NPC during combat.

but of course I understand what yoou're talking about - children are bulletproof in bethesda games by definition.

Fenixp: Heh, nope, they just got their sprites removed, but the kids were still there. I remember reading that you could lose your items to thin air in the censored version of Fallout 2, because the invisible kids were still stealing
avatar
F4LL0UT: Weird. German Wikipedia actually states that the kids were replaced by homeless guys (I wouldn't know, I only played the uncensored version). Greedy ghosts or ninjas are much cooler though.
Uh, German wikipedia doesn't say anything about homeless guys replacing children. In fact, it specificly mentions that due to time constraints all child NPCs were deleted from the game without any further alterations to accomodate for their absence.

Hence the invisible thieves...

I'm talking about the "Bloodpatch" article on the German Wikipedia.

Something to do with Interplay.
