awalterj: You couldn't mess with those sacred geese from the Juno Temple.
I'm sure Marcus Manlius Capitolinus would definitely agree with how good geese are at guard duty. I recall reading an article about other armies, more recently, using geese as guard dogs. One advantage is that the enemy/trespasser would probably not consider the geese as a threat, little knowing how vicious and noisy they can be when startled.

coxdr: Thanks again! as for what we were running from I would say more the sound from the dog drawing the stepmother. We knew about the dog but normally it was put up at the time. Since it was out meant that the stepmother was up most likely making our cause more difficult. I cant remember what the text message said exactly but it was something about weird noises and being scarred.
You're welcome coxdr! Next time you sneak up to that house, bring some sausage (for the dog, of course...)

Indeed, it seems geese have upheld their reputation for being stealth-proof over the millennia: I found articles about geese professionally guarding Scotch whiskey and Chinese police motorbikes. An then I found this awesome clip:

Now where have I seen Todaiji Temple before.................? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=777Du5gS64M

Don't know how I didn't spot this thread earlier (stealthy thread, lol, but I'm not a guy who finds, I'm a guy who HIDES)

My stealth story for the time-being
I'm an amateur wildlife photographer, and as my hobby, I have to hide a LOOOOOT when I want a good shot. I'm sharing this story because its kinda iconic since I swear I hadn't heard of any stealth games at the time (we didn't even have a PC).

So, before I got my digital camera (which had a focal length higher than 30mm), I used a plastic film camera which had its focal length fixed at 30mm (which is wide angle, and so not suited for taking photos of birds, or any wildlife). So if I needed to photograph something, I'd have to be around 2-3 metres near my subject.
Anyway, I wanted to photograph pigeons and I had to find a way to get close to them. So, we'd just got a TV and I was sufficiently small enough to get into the box (its was 2008, and I was only 11 then). So I flipped the box opening down and placed it over myself, after having cut a hole to see and photograph through. Then I crawled out and had my bros sprinkle rice all over the yard as I crept up to the landing pigeons. Then, after the birds recognised I was a box, they came near and ate next to me, which enabled me to take some photos. But the pics didn't turn out good in development (I found out my camera also had a min. focusing distance of 0.5M after a few more months), so I didn't get the pics I planned. But a stealth story nontheless.

And I'll keep posting when I have time since I find sneaking around to be quite pleasurable.

Shadowstalker16:
Your post made me all nostalgic about Age of Empires 2, I'm seriously tempted to buy the HD version (including Conquerors) from Steam, then again I'd rather see it on GOG so I voted on the wishlist here:

About the pigeons, looks like the Metal Gear Solid cardboard trick doesn't really work well enough in real life, at least in this specific situation. There is another way you could get much closer to pigeons and take pictures of them: Spy camera pigeons
Seems like the perfect way to get close to pigeons and remain unnoticed, nowadays it would be much easier than back in WW1/WW2 because you could remotely operate the camera.

You can get a CD for less than $15, but the free version of The Forgotten Expansion doesn't have campaigns.

Yes indeed, the cardboard box has been decieving us. But now I have a camera with zoom, so I only need to sneak a small distance near to the subjects. But nothing beats the good ol' 10-0m sneak lol.
