Navagon: So EA fits into this where? As far as I know all the rights holders are on GOG. The problem is the impossibility of them cooperating with each other.

Delixe: Westwood are owned by EA thats the problem.
I don't think that's the problem.
The original publisher would own the rights to the game, not the developer. EA owns the rights to Command and Conquer because Westwood originally self-published it, and EA now owns Westwood.

SSI should probably be the rights holder to the franchise. Ubisoft eventually ended up with SSI, but they dissolved the company and retired the company name.

However, somewhere along the way, Atari ended up with the rights to make and publish the GBA version of the game, so Atari may own the franchise now....not really sure, but I don't think EA has anything to do with it.
I would love GOG to release the old EotB games, Menzo, and the Gold Box series games.

I would pay for them, even though I own them (albeit on Commodore 64 for the Gold Box).
I think I have a legal copy of all the goldbox games compiled for the 386 or something. I wonder if I could get that bad boy working if I tried.
Orcishgamer - it is very easy to get the Gold Box series running again. Dosbox is your friend. I have them all set up on my netbook and they run like a dream!

I have the Gold Box games collection that contains all 9 of the original gold box games on 1 CD. It was a Wizardworks budget title back in the 90's. The best 19.99 title ever released, IMO.
All of the games work great in DosBox. In fact, they all play with VGA graphics, sound, and mouse support on Windows XP or earlier. But they run too fast to play them without DosBox or a CPU slowdown program like Mo'Slo.

Ah crap, that's the exact box I bought. I have another one of Interplay's Greatest hits which includes Wasteland and Bard's Tale, plus some other goodies. I certainly have time for none of this but I might just have to dig those out and give them a shot.
Not just the Gold Box games, but what about the two Buck Rogers games as well?

They were the best of the Gold Box IMHO... I still have them in their original boxes, although sadly I lack a 5.25" drive to load Countdown to Doomsday.

I realise they weren't in "Gold Boxes" as such, but I recall SSI considering them part of that series (similar engine after all).

So, there's no way. It's a shame, I had my credit card ready. I love GOG releases.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that. So Atari must have the rights to the title. It might be a possibility after all.

I wouldn't say there is no way anything is possible when it comes to corporations and the prospect of money. Working out who owns what and who gets what percentage of that money, thats the tricky part. For a while it was looking like there was no chance of getting the Infinity Engine games but yet here they are.
EotB was my "first real game" on PC (before that I was using 8-bit Atari only).
I played EotB for a long time. I would gladly see it available here. :)
Eye of the Beholder 2 seemed about the best of the three, the third game had a section I never got past where you were wandering round an almost unmappable forest cutting down trees. :)

That bit was a right nightmare... I ended up buying the cluebook for EOB3 and STILL didn't manage to finish the game. I did finish 2 and loved it. Then again, 3 was made AFTER Westwood left and they took development internally, while Westwood went and made Lands of Lore... LoL was good, EOB3.... not! (At least if my history is correct!)
I played whole EotB series, and loved it. Indeed, part 3 seems a little worse, but still I finished it with no problems. Whole series was a fantastic experience for me - I still remember drawing all dungeons on a piece of paper.
