Smannesman: Also, I really really hope they don't use that lame autoleveling enemy system again.

HomerSimpson: This was pretty much a game-breaker for me. I really enjoyed a lot of the components in Oblivion. But it made no sense to punish players for actually using and developing their MAJOR skills.
It would blow my mind if they used SPECIAL for the next TES game... ha, that would be too fucking weird.

No thanks.

Elder Scrolls should stick w/ their own RPG system, which they've been using.
I don't need a medieval Fallout game.

Fallout series is just fine w/ SPECIAL by itself.
[Other than say Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader - which is NOT a franchise.]

Fallout should feel like Fallout.
Elder Scrolls w/ its "practice system" should feel like Elder Scrolls.

Well, I've been playing Fallout 3 for the last few days non-stop and I have to say it is SUPERB. Yeah, yeah, some parts are kinda fucked such as the fact that I can't tune up some of the chicks and all that as well as the facial animations (atrocious) but this is DEFINITELY pushing the genre in a good direction.

F3 NV - if it lives up to the hype of being "way better" than F3 will be orgasmic.

Anyway, back to topic. Oblivion was bland. Morrowind was fun but at the time I got it when it came out and had the system hog bug in it and thus, some parts were completely unplayable even though I had one of the best rigs you could get back then. =\ Still, Morrowind had far more character than Oblivion.

The startling thing I learnt in this thread is that they are both in the same world??? I'm starting to suspect where they're going to go - eventually make them all into one game and release it as a MMORPG.

New Vegas is better because it's much more of an RPG. If you just want open-world action games then you might not consider it an improvement.

bowlingotter: If ES V is to Oblivion what FO:NV is to FO3... [snore]

StingingVelvet: Eh? New Vegas is a much, much better game than Fallout 3.
While that's debatable, the point I was making was more that FO:NV was more of a glorified expansion pack to FO:3. I would not want ESV to be that same to Oblivion.

True.

At the very least make it better looking - not so fricking shiny and glowy glowy.
Just a few thoughts of my to make Elder Scrolls V a better game then Oblivion

The combat system needs a complete rework i think. Melee combat is really simple. Left clicking your enemies to death is not very interesting combat, or i am too fussy (wanted to use picky, but i am not a chicken). So how about transfering the combat system of a real combat game like Streetfighter or Mortal Combat into Oblivion. Some more skills then only one melee attack would be nice.

The practice system is fine, but you get too powerful by only raising one combat stat. The skill should be connected to your level. Or it should take longer to raise your skills.

Magic needs some work too. Its really annoying to play a mage without a working mana regeneration. Drop mana pool and make the skills rechargeable. Would be a solution for the mana problem.

How about a multiplayer module.

Better animations. Those faces could use a little work. A guard attacking me should be angry. A beggar i donated a few gold pieces should be happy.

Frequent recycle of the same levels over and over again is not good game design. Those demon gates were a pain in the ass.

Drop level scaling.

Drop quest navigation system. But put tips to solve quests in game. Its no fun in a game about exploring to be guided by a navigation system to your quests targets.

Factions that fight each other. Whats the point of a faction when it does not compete with other factions.

Have a nice day
I liked Oblivion, and by that I mean I like everything but the main quest.
It’s going to have to change a few things for me to be interested in V. Mostly just finding a better levelling system and figuring out a way to switch up the landscape and caves a bit. Even if it means a smaller world map so they can have that variation. Also the horse animation is hilariously bad so that shouldn’t be too hard to improve upon.

I think all they would need to do is make it tougher... the block and attack gameplay was good, it was just too easy and spammy. Make it tougher so the player has to move, block and think more and there you go, good combat.

Please NOOOOO!
