Smannesman: OK, so I'm thinking of getting Skyrim for the PS3 first (regular edition with cloth map, not the insanely expensive collector's edition) and then the GOTY for the PC when it gets released.
I think it's a pretty good plan since it'll be a while before any good mods and texture packs are released anyway and I don't want to buy all the DLC and such separately.
But I am curious to hear what you guys think.
And please, no fanboi-ism.
I did the same thing with Morrowind but I was able to play Morrowind multiple times.

Not sure if Oblivion had that replay value. I played it once and try to start it again 3 more times but never got into it.

I've played Morrowind a bunch of times, but never to the end.
I did do two playthroughs of Oblivion (with and without the expansions), but it was very linear and at times (unintentionally) silly.
Both (new) Fallouts had good, bad and neutral endings so I played through them several times as well.
Anyway, I'll add you to the 'pro' column ;)

I might do the same think. My PC is way outdated and I been wanting to buy a new one. I might just get it for my Xbox and if I like the game as much as Morrowind I buy it for the PC.

Go for it.

Hopefully the PS3 version won't be inferior to the other two, because that's the one I plan on getting.

It probably won't be, by now they've pretty much figured out how to program for the PS3 ;)
What puzzled me on Fallout 3 though was how certain scripts behaved differently on the PS3, 360 and PC. All three versions would have a bug in a certain spot, but all three behaved differently.

Sounds like a good plan to me. We keep trying to get my boss's son to do the same since his current pc isn't good enough for it and he has no money to upgrade right now, but he won't be told anything by people who work with *gasp* his mother. Ah well. He's a nice guy, pretty smart, and practicality will eventually kick in.
