My girlfriend used to play this childrens educational game and has been racking her brains on trying to remember what it was called. I can't find it using my Google Fu (which is usually strong enough..) so the challenge comes to you.

It's a 2D point and click game. The "main" area of game has a snake (which may be called Sissy or Hissy?) who says "Hiss" (the actual word, not the sound) when you clicked on him. He may also have worn a yellow and blue/red hat.

There are little minigames you can click on from that area which included:

1) You're in a shop and you have to click on the right "Fibble"(?) that the customer orders. Fibbles came in different sizes, colours and other features (maybe eyes). They were on perches.

2) You have a canvas where you choose the background and you could place shapes on it and they would shoot off and bounce off the edges to make sounds. Their speed was influcenced by the chosen background.

3) Where you had to put animals in rooms in a house and they had to "match" together.

4) There was an octupus on the phone sat behind a desk and at some point he talks to another animal in "Alberta" and also a Panda in China.

The game is from the late 90's (1995-2000) and may have had a sequel.

The person who correctly identifies this will get a $5.99 GOG for making her happy :)

The game your girlfriend is racking her brain for are the Thinkin' Things Collection of games:

Thinkin' Games Collection 1: Fripple Shop

And it is Fripple Shop. ;)

Also, the snake could also be Sammy's Science House, but I doubt it:

Sammy!

Different game but same company.

Also there was a Thinkin' Things Collection 2:

Thinkin' Things 2

Finally here is the box art for Thinkin' Things:

Boxart

Now the same company also had a female crocodile character in her own games known as Trudy's Time & Place House.

The only reason I know all of this, is because I work at a public library and we used to have these games on the Children's computers (I installed Lego Harry Potter, Where's Waldo, Lego Star Wars, Nancy Drew, and more modern games now).

Hope that helps!

arusaku: snip
Fuzzy was okay with me marking this as the solution as it is a little more verbose (and she was mixing Thinking Things and Sammy together!)

So I am going to give all three of you a $5,99 game.
Fuzzy for getting Thinking Things.
clarky85 for getting Sammy.
arusaku for providing links so I could confirm it was what I was looking for as lazily as possible :P

Thanks everyone!

And that's how it's done! Nice one, Xyem. My Google-Fu was failing like yours. Hopefully your wife is made happy looking at some old screenshots / videos.

I ditto that sentiment. After all, not everyday I can actually use my useless knowledge of old edutainment games. :P

But, again it was nothing, Xyem, always happy to help.

Do neither of you want the game in return?

entirely up to you my friend, in all honesty i don't think a bit of general knowledge should come at a price
