wolfsite: Two main things Origin has over Steam right now:

1 More stable offline mode (Steam really does not like being in offline mode... well for me anyway).

2. Origin doesn't have a log in error where you log into the client but the client doesn't recognize that you have logged in but won't let you log in since you actually are logged in, Steam does this every now and then an it really gets annoying.
I have never experienced #2.
Ha ha. For their sake I hope that they have any more concrete and revolutionary secret plans on how to achieve that besides hot air like "it will be the same but even more awesome!".

Kind of reminds me of all the companies trying to be more successful than Diablo or WoW by copying it. But certainly EA will benefit from their image of being one of the most liked and most innovative publishers around. Oh, wait ... In any case, good luck! ;)

They're taking a page out of EA-Mythic's repertoire.

"We've got great things lined up. We just can't tell you what they are yet!"

macuahuitlgog: I hope Origin becomes better than Steam or equal to Steam. That is never going to happen though UNTIL Origin allows people to play Origin games and browse their store in the language they desire(if not the language of your country of residence) instead of forcing one language on people. Steam lets you choose a language for their store. And most Steam games let you play in the language you desire(if not the language of your country of residence). Steam is years ahead of Origin, right now.
While the store is indeed German, my account and my games are in English. Their tore being hardly worth browsing anyway, I can't say that it bothers me lot.

Tychoxi: ...
I'm a satisfied STEAM customer and I shudder to think of installing ANOTHER client, all they do is clog up your machine's resources and I already have too many usernames+passwords to juggle around. One is enough for me. I wouldn't call it "laziness".
...
I don't know for sure but most probably you don't have to start the Origin or Steam client during computer startup but only before it is needed. Then you would never need to run both the Origin and the Steam client at the same time. So machine's resources should be used equally to the case of only one such service provider. What else but laziness can it be?

Origin is already better. Offline works. Customer support is 10000000x better than steam.
Yep, already better. If Origin started selling 3rd party games, steam would be dead faster than you could say "what the .. "

This confuses me because I read so many complaints from Origin users from non English speaking countries about games not having an English option. Maybe the Origin games you have licenses to are the few Origin games with an English option for users outside of English speaking countries?

...

Just checked. Steam still alive. 4.7 Million people using it right now.

Another prediction busted. :)

A monopoly is always bad. Two such services is the absolute minimum we need. So in case one really sucks you can switch to the other. Real financial consequences are the only thing that the industry understands. But mind you, Origin doesn't have to be this competitor. (GOOOOOOOOG)
At least 99% of games on Steam don't have any installation caps. The ones that do already had them before Valve put them up in the store. Which is kinda what makes GOG so great, the way they get to alter a game's DRM (if any) before selling it.

It is indeed a matter of licenses. The only game I had problems with (as in no English version) was the Crysis 1. But that took some desk support to activate anyway, and they, because I was in Germany, activated the German version of Crysis, which inly had German, Russian and Turkish as language. I probably could have asked for a change, but I didn't bother in the end.

They actually had the German disc version of Crysis somehow on Origin, complete with a "no disc in drive message" which disappeared once I started it once with Origin running. After that is was fully crack by Origin.

I'm pretty sure that all games that are actually redeemable on Origin are available in English. At least that was the case with mine.
