Our giveaways have ended, but a contest has begun

Hello, all you thousands and thousands of new people! We hope you liked the free Empire Earth: Gold Edition. While we’re no longer giving it away for free, we are having a huge Holiday Sale with almost every game in our catalogue available for 50% off the regular price. That’s more than 350 games! A lot of you may not be familiar with our catalogue, so we thought we’d hold a few contests to help you learn about the great games that GOG.com has available for purchase for less than $5.

Today’s contest features our newest big publisher: Electronic Arts. We’ve created a crossword puzzle for you to answer (lightweight PDF version here), filled with words and hints from the EA games in our catalogue. Even if you’re not an expert in EA games, you can likely find any of the answers that stump you via your old friend Google. Take part in our GOG.com 2011 Holiday EA Crossword Puzzle contest for a chance to win any EA game available on GOG.com! There is no snow yet (at least in Warsaw), so there’s nothing really interesting outside to do. Ponder in your mind about some EA related puzzles and connect business with pleasure to win yourself a classic ;)

If you’ve managed to figure the puzzle out, take a picture or a scan of your crossword puzzle answers and email it to contest@gog.com with the subject line "GOG.com 2011 Holiday EA Crossword Puzzle". From all of you who send us the correct answers, we will select 10 winners who will receive a free $9.99 or $5.99 Electronic Arts game of their choice. The contest is live from now until the 16th of December 11:59GMT. After that, we will announce the winners of the contest.

Good luck everyone, and have fun!

Fujek: Just a little question... as you're already using EclipseCrossword, why don't you have it create an interactive webpage instead?
Wouldn't that be a lot easier for the people who want to participate?
I don't want to run some random javascript on GOG.com.

EDIT: More to the point, IT doesn't want me to either. :P

Darling_Jimmy: And you don't want to anger those little bears. You won't like them when they're angry.
Heavens, no. Their bloodlust is the stuff of nightmares.

Fujek: Nobody said that it had to be implemented with the page/domain (though if you intend to run more crossword puzzles, your web development might as well invest some minutes to make it look professional? :p), but that you could even run it on a dumb free server somewhere out there. Even that would seem much more comfortable than having to print and scan or edit a picture.

Btw. are you going to reveal the actual number of people who participated (I'd be really curious there) and are you restricting emails to GOG accounts (else some might use a lot of different addresses to alter their chance)?
Based on previous history, running it on a free server would kill the poor page. We had thousands of entries into the last crossword puzzle, and we'll probably have that many entries into this one, too.

As for revealing the number of participants, maybe. I'll think about it. I'd hate to lose my "enigmatic" membership card. Then I'd just be TheT, which sounds pretty silly.

Fever_Discordia: Oh I see, now you've made thousands and thousands of new friends us lot aren't good enough for you to talk to anymore!
Nice
;-P
It was a convenient framing device to explain why we're featuring different publishers in the sale for the next two weeks or so.

We love all of you equally. ;)

Lenok: Would it be fine if I just typed in the letters in MS Paint?
Yep.

CowboyBebop: I forgot to attach the image to my email before I sent it. I sent a second email with the puzzle attached. Is this alright?
Yes. We'll only count the last entry from any given email address.

Ghildrean: I see mailerbot has recovered well since the last contest. Glad to see him again!
We figured that one out: he was only set to send once a week to any given email address. We've since addressed that issue.

No more lazy bot. Muahahah.

silveri: Almost... There are 338 games total available for purchase in the "Games Catalog"

Yeah yeah, I know, quit nit-picking. :-)
Yes, but a number of the "games" for sale in the catalog are two or three packs, so we're actually selling more games than the immediate number on the homepage would suggest.

coldtony: Shame on you.
Let me state this again: For all that GOG.com and CDP RED are sister companies, we're not the same company. We're a distributor for The Witcher 2, not the developer or the publisher or anything else. We're not currently involved in any legal activities with The Witcher 2, and it wouldn't be appropriate for us to comment on the legal activities of another company.
The contest has ended about 30 minutes ago.
Here are the correct answers.
Winners will be notified shortly ;)

Check back tomorrow for a new contest ;)
We've sent emails to all of the winners and are giving them their games today.
