A few years ago I had bought $ 50(gift card) worth of mp3 from Emusic and didn't really think about them until i recently lost my music. So I log back on the re download these albums and I cannot without paying a monthly subscription charge. I should of went with a better known company like amazon. I probably didn't read the fine print very well for this was one of my first downloadable product i bought from a company, but I figured I could re download, but nope I can't.

To be fair, early on Amazon's stuff was archive it or lose it unless you used their downloader (which was only available on Windows). Now they have their various digital libraries and they are one of the best sites by far on which to buy digital content, but it wasn't always so. Still, their quick efforts in the right direction shows they always had their hearts in the right place, the market just may have pushed them into the game earlier than they were ready for everything.
Amazon here in germany is still one download, no library. And yes, eMusic has a big fall down. They raised the prices, lost many good indie labels and later you were onyl allowed to download your stuff three times while it was before unlimited. That's really sad, because for me it was the best place to explore music and give also more unknown musicians are try I never would buy albums at higher price points.

I bought the music because it was hard to get, and at the time you didn't need a subscription. It is my fault for not backing up my music but do think its a bogus act to require someone who bought something from your store to get a monthly subscription just to get something I already paid for. Right now I have been using Spotify and I am happy with the service but if I ever buy again I will consider amazon first.....
