I wish for it to be evil, I'd go play Overlord 2, except I'm still working. I'll probably ruin my whole weekend again this way:(

Supposedly tonight, I'm trying not to throw an epic fit right now.

orcishgamer: I'm pretty sure I saw a succubus make a brief appearance in the gameplay video.

deathkitten: Think you must not have read my whole reply, near the end: "The characters look rubbish, they even managed to make a demoness look uncool" ;)
Apologies, I often post when drunk:)

Yeah, she looked pretty standard, nothing special at all. Sometimes I think they throw in the most stock, boring images ever for things. I'm totally cool with it from indie studios, but if you have actual art assets (as in people) they should be making whatever the players want to be cool completely badass!
the german demo is online: here

elbaz: Well, I've got farther than I've had in the past. After installing the game and the 1.7 patch, and fiddling with the settings as described at this site:
http://www.esotericarticles.com/Dungeon_Keeper_2_Vista.html

I managed to get the game running at a decent resolution and high detail. I thought I'd actually succeeded, but the game is consistently crashing on the second mission just as the enemy breaches the dungeon. :(

NightK: Weird... I can't seem to remember what I've done, but I did play through the first 6 missions and enjoyed some 3 free for all LAN several times, on lan it did crash from time to time but not that frequently as to be unenjoyable(We finished 4 or 5 games on lan).

Ho and I followed the same guide ;)
The only problem I found in the game was going through the main menus was a pain since it lags ALOT.
I had DK2 running fine on my setup (Win7 Ultimate 64 bit, Nvidia card).

The trick for Nvidia card users is to make sure you create a profile for DK2 in your Nvidia 3d settings, and set Antialiasing mode to 'application controlled' or 'off'. You may have to set Threaded Optimization to 'off' as well, if necessary

Compatibility mode for the exe should be at XP Service pack 3.

Sorry, dont know of any fixes for ATI users, but I'm sure theres some out there!

All info got from http://www.keeperklan.com/threads/1212-Dungeon-Keeper-II-How-I-got-it-running-with-Hardware-Acceleration-turned-on-in-win7 - I take no credit for it, just repeating it here for GoGers usage!

Have fun killing Heroes.....
Everyone interested in this, I strongly recommend to PLAY THE DEMO FIRST, before you deceide to buy.

The german demo has been out a few days and I played the first 2 levels. While it's clearly an spiritual offspring of Dungen Keeper, the mechanics differ A LOT.
The main difference is that your minions, your treasure and your dungeon decorations (for prestige) are mainly to attract the heroes. So you're not really defending your dungeon, it feels a lot more like Theme Park where you try to lure customers (heroes) in and keep them satisfied.
So in the end it's mostly (at least as far as I played) your character that has to do the dirty work itself, while your minions function more as bait then anything else.

The reviews / comments so far are mixed. Some enjoyed the game immensely, while others don't think the new ideas work out well.
So wait for the demo to deceide for yourself if you like it, as this isn't DK 3 - neither inofficially nor in spirit.
