Dungeon Master - Return to Chaos here!
From the website :
"Return to Chaos (hereafter RTC) is my Windows version of the FTL classic "Dungeon Master", originally released on the Atari ST and Amiga in 1987, and its sequels "Chaos Strikes Back" and "Dungeon Master II". Whilst I make no claim to the idea, graphics or sounds, the program itself was entirely written by myself; mostly as a work avoidance tactic in my final couple of months at university. I started writing RTC to learn as I went along the basics of game programming and as such it is the first and only game I have ever written; please be tolerant with any bugs you find! I wish to thank those denizens of the 'Net who have play tested the game exhaustively - I hope this game brings as much pleasure to you as it did to me whilst writing it. Good luck and have fun."
I remember trying this ages ago, but I couldn't get it working for some reason... Now it seemed to work perfectly though, so thanks for posting!

Glad I could help you out!
Sweet thanks for this. One of my all time classics. Just remembered how hard Chaos Strikes Back is so looks like I will have to go through the original again first.
Bump for an overlooked gem.
Thanks for the link this is awsome. I have both Dungeon Master and Dungeon Master II and loved them both. I have been thinking of trying to get DM II running through DosBox or something as I never beat it, but now I don't have too. :) I think I better go see if I have all my maps and notes for these games in my storage boxes.
A million thanks for putting up the link I've forgotten a couple of years ago. Now then... how did this game go......
I always thought they were disappointing. The melee mechanics are too simple, the magic rune weirdness too user hostile, and the combination of real time corridor crawling without automapping is really, really confusing.
It seems that I might have found some moar Dungeon Master here.
