And now this remake is called Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded and also supported by Gearbox Software. It will be free and using Unreal 3 Engine. Here is the website. I hope it will be released not won't be like the Black Mesa: Source.

At the risk of missing the point in favour of a stupid laugh, I must say that the image of the Duke on the websites front page did immediately bring a Rob Liefeld classic to mind.

No, Valve have said in the past that they support the endeavor. It's not cancelled yet.

I'm guessing they support it because of that abortion they called Half Life: "Source" they tried to pass off as a better Half Life experience on the source engine. It had a few improvements and tweaks but was otherwise a pixel for pixel port, which sucked considering all the tech they had to work with in the source engine.
