I don't suppose it's possible for two DRM-free vendors of older titles to offer a sort of "crossover" feature for users who buy games on both sites, is it? I don't mind having more than one site to keep track of, but it would make things a little simpler.

I imagine the acquisition process for licensing rights for some games would get that much hairier, though. Publishers would have to agree to distribution on both GOG and DotEmu, even if only one site was selling the game.

Add'l:
Also, does anyone know why they took down Abuse from their list?

People use DotEmu?
What is even the point of that?
there are games sold on dotemu that arent sold here. like the silmarils collection. and dotemu doesnt have its own downloader. as if the one here was functional anyway.

I sympathize with you wanting cross-account linkage, as in my mind DotEmu is sort of a "little sister" site to GOG. Similar titles, no DRM, albeit with no extras or forum community to speak of. I've bought a few titles there not available here.

However, they're different Digital Distribution outlets and run and managed by different owners. DotEmu's French, GOG Polish. I simply use the same user name for that site; same with Direct2Drive, in an attempt to "unify" my DD gaming purchases online.

That would be kinda like sororate - you marry a girl and her sister becomes your wife as well...
I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm simply suggesting that similar problems arise.

Yeah, it's not like I've downloaded over 40 GB of games using the downloader.

One person's success story isn't indicative of a 100%, bug-free program. And stop stalking me. You've got something oppositive to say in almost every thread I've made. AND you still don't say anything on-topic. You take the tail-end of the post and say something snarky about it.
I bought Broken Sword Director's Cut on Dotemu and it worked out flawlessly... no real reason to bash that site. I also like how their more flexible pricing allows for stuff like Bloodlines to be on there DRM free.

That said I haven't bought anything else there and GOG ended up giving me Broken Sword for free anyway, so... whatev.
DotEmu was a real life-saver for me because they had the Cossacs 1-2 (+ American Conquest) pack.

At some point I'll probably snatch the Vampire: Bloodlines game from there.

... Stalking?

Ha. Hahahahahaha. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Ha.

Hoo. Oh boy. I have better things to do than "stalk" someone. Like pick my belly button lint. I have no idea who you are other than just a poster in the GOG forum, and I have no interest in said knowledge either. But if you're going to make such a broad statement like that about the downloader as if it were fact... you're bound to get replies like mine.

Stalker... *snerk* Right. ^_^

*picks at his belly button lint*

Edit: And to answer your question, I believe the version of Abuse DotEmu was offering was just the shareware version in a DOSBox wrapper, so someone must've noticed and they removed it.

What's the point, it won't even have a football, either kind.
