Gersen: If the game support in ScummVM is 100% "perfect" or close enough then for me it's ScummVM without hesitation.

If the ScummVM support is still "preliminary" or with known, moderately important, glitches then I use Dosbox instead.
I'm not sure why the thread is continuing from here. That's exactly right. Assuming that a game is supported completely under SCUMM, the overhead should be substantially less than with DOSBox as you're not needing to emulate anything.

That being said DOSBox is good, it's just preferable to replace the engine when you can for performance reasons.

tiberiusx1977: Why not offer customers to request customized installers specific to their hardware configuration. At an additional cost of course!
Because the price would be so high that you might as well just pay somebody like Codeweavers to provide the support.

oldschool: Dosbox = MS-Dos games, ScuumVM = Lucas Arts titles. See how easy that was.
This is the only and correct answer. ScummVM can emulate certain games (more than LucasArts, though I haven't tried many) and is a more controlled environment. Here is the list of supported games:

DosBox is a fully emulated Dos environment. You can run any DOS program in there. Much better for a wider array of games and software.

Done with Tyrian 2000.

I'm uploading what I've done so far on SkyDrive, but with my totally awesome connection it would take a while. Should be done in a hour or two.

Going to play a while with Ultima now. For a 25MB game, GOG's installer sure is taking a bit long time to install the game.

In the mean time, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qcs_Ba-sQ4Q
Ultima 4 related... what would you guys suggest... going with the base game or integrating the upgrade patch?

Would it be possible for both, with an option to choose which version to install?

Elenarie: Done with Teenagent, Dragonsphere and Treasure Adventure Game. Going to bed now, hopefully tomorrow I'd be able to get Tyrian 2000 done, and maybe the Ultima games (if they're DOSBox based, have been keeping away from ScummVM for now, want to do all DOSBox based games first).
What exactly did you do with Treasure Adventure Game? It's a windows game! Or has there been an update that GOG hasn't included yet?

Sure, I don't see why not. Will include that in the next release of the installer, for this first release I want to make sure that the game installs and works properly.

Would be great if someone could make 256x256 icons (I know there are some packs available on DeviantArt, but don't know whether the artists will give permission to use the icons for this 'project'). I found a guy called Jeno-Cyber that has some nice icons for obscure games like Teenagent, Dragonsphere, will ask him tomorrow if I could use his icons.

Nothing much. Added better compression and now the size is 103 MB. Previously it was 110. :D

Done with the DOSBox based ones, need to properly do the ScummVM based ones right now.
Anyone with a DeviantArt account around here?

If so, could you ask Jeno-Cyber for permission to use his icons and request icons for Tyrian 2000, Ultima 4 and the two Worlds of Ultima games? Would really appreciate that.

(I deleted mine after the hacking, don't feel like creating a new one right now.)
I've uploaded what I've done so far... also, new thread:
