There was a game I adored when I was little. The goal was to send the trains to their matching colored station, but they started at a different colored station. You had to lay tracks and get them to where they needed to go. The trains were always moving, and you had to keep them from hitting each other. The game became more difficult when additional train colors became available, and I believe there was also an occasional runaway train.

I don't remember what the title was, and I think it may be even too small and obscure for GOG to offer one day. Does anyone know what it was?

Could be Locomotion.

No, the screenshots aren't from what I'm thinking of.
Oddly enough, I do remember playing some other game that matched your description, and my memory pictures it slightly differently from Locomotion screenshots but I cannot recall the name. If my memory is correct, the trains (at least in the beginning) started from two sides of the screen. Beginning with two trains -- red and blue. Little, if any, on-screen controls. Could be actually EGA graphics. Timing -- around 1991. Does that sound close?
I don't remember the starting colors, eventually the trains were red, blue, green, yellow and cyan. I want to say that the runaway train flashed black and white. The two original stations did start on opposite sides of the screen, there wasn't any scrolling. It's possible it came out around 1991, but I feel like I played it a few years after that.
Long time ago but maybe Shortline.

TrainTown?

Awesome game, btw. I still play it sometime. It's one of the Sierra family fun games made ftw.
Shortline is it, thanks!
Funny how memory works. When I checked the video I recognized it but in my memory it was blended with some other games. This one was fun and unique. Thank you for bringing this one up.
