Steam doesn't have it, even though they have the Deus Ex duology, so they must have SOME kind of dialogue with whomever owns the Ion Storm licenses. I looked for a physical copy, but yet again, everyone who's selling one seems to thing that "Old means rare, and rare means I get to sell it for beau-coup bucks". Especially that "HitGaming" store on Amazon. Have you checked out his storefront? It's ridiculous! Old GBA games for upwards of $60! But I divan. Ion Storm didn't release the game on the Playstation, opting instead for a Dreamcast release, so I doubt I'll be able to get it on the PSN (I say this assuming that Eidos owns Ion Storm, and Sony owns Eidos. Or was it Square that owns Eidos? Does Sony own Square?).

Snickersnack: -snip comments about Star Wars universe

drmlessgames: And that's why Star Wars sucks. It's DnD for retards. : )

Huh?
Are you talking about one of the Star Wars pen and paper RPG systems or the setting?
DnD is for people who'd rather play house than participate in a proper war game. ;o)

I just dont like the setting or universe.

I made a list a few weeks back of games that have never been digitally released but should've (not including games tied to 3rd-party licensees like "Baldur's Gate" and the Star Trek games) that had this game on it. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1341706

drmlessgames: Interesting that Anachronox came out along with Deus Ex from the same studio that brought that train wreck known as John Romero's Daikatana.
avatar
Titanium: Deus Ex came from the same studio, but a different group entirely, under Warren Spector. Anachronox was probably Romero's penance, but more likely Tom Hall told him "don't touch the computers, just stand there and look pretty".

Kinda difficult to ask john romero to look pretty, now if he had asked Stevie Case instead...
Okay, another question about this game: Does anyone know if retail copies work with Windows 7 64?
avatar
trusteft: I have to warn you, the game hasn't aged well. Butt ugly game.

Age has nothing to do with. The game looked like shiat when it was released as well.
Still an excellent game.
As for modern OS's the only issue I'm aware of is the extension limit problem:

Just tried installing and patching it and the game does not appear to run on Windows 7 even with compatibility options. (At least not on a non-US English version of Windows).
Okay, found the problem. Anachronox doesn't like the newer Nvidia cards. If you go into the Nvidia control panel and add the Anachronox.exe to the 3D settings, you can then edit the settings for that and turn on the Extension Limit. This will get the game running after all.
But there may still be a few problems.
If you have an Ati card, I have no idea whether it will work or not.

Oh well. Thanks a lot for trying though. That's appreciated!

Interesting, thanks! Does that trick work on other games with Nvidia compatibility issues? I'll give it a try on Messiah and Praetorians anyway.

No idea if it will work for those games, but it's apparently used for Quake 2 as well (which I think is the engine Anachronox was made in anyhow).

No luck with Messiah anyway. It was a long shot given that the game actually started okay. It was just everything after that which fell to pieces.
