I have second thoughts about the game. While for a while I used to be into Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 and Planescape. I find that those games are my least favorite now. Real time combat doesn't do it like it used to for me. And now that Pool of Radiance and other gold box games I have available and can play-what would be the point.

However the new classes are fun, but its still the same major problems. Back in 2004 I would be playing these games nonstop though didn't beat any IWD 1 and 2.

At the current stage of the game if my character misses 3-5 times in a few rounds, I don't have the patience for such crap.

How does everyone else feel?

I was quite happy with BGEE and BG2EE so yeah, I'm looking foward to IWDEE.
Probably my main problem with the older games, is that the system isn't very up front with how it works... I mean they are good systems, but they are also based on 2nd Edition AD&D to a larger extent, and it's not obvious the best way to build them. Even if RPing and enjoying the adventure is the primary goal, you don't want to get stuck behind a bad character from stupid design. Examples might be during character creature choosing to go a high strength with a wizard (so you can pack around more stuff). Yeah that seems like an obvious failure of a choice, yet there will be no good suggestions in the game for how to build it so you'll grow decently enough.

Been a while since i played Baulder's Gate games... My younger brother always got more involved than i did with those...

I can't say i'd really care that much for the EE editions unless they offered as an option to use an alternate system like Pathfinder or Herosystem/Gurps or something for progression, something i could sink my teeth into more.

I love the IE games and still play them today. But I see no reason to get an EE version when I have the originals, I can mod them, and they work fine on my rigs.
only care if the EEditions come to GOG.

on 2nd thought:
maybe slightly interested if its in a sub-$5 bundle for the lot and some other interesting items.
When Icewind Dale EE is on sale in the future for reasonable price(less than $15), I'll care.

I've always voiced the opinion, on the BGEE forum, that Planescape Torment is in far more need of an Overhaul than Icewind Dale. The game now announced, already looked stunning in it's old forum and other than BG1, hardly needed tweaking for a good playing experience.

Planescape Torment however has a very awkard interface in widescreen. With the widescreen mod applied, the action selection circle becomes very small and overall the game has a very old feel to it, while I find Icewind Dale to be still fresh after all these years.

So I'm sad they opted to enhance Icewind Dale instead of Planescape Torment.

BTW: the 'Question' form is for if you want a technical solution, so you can mark the right solution that helps you as the solution, marking the topic as solved. When asking for an opinion, there won't be one right solution. Don't do this again you naughty boy (or girl)...
So it's already not "just a rumor" anymore?

If you ask me, Planescape: Torment would've worked a lot better as an adventure game than it did as an RPG.
Other than torment spells turning into a blur when run by certain graphic cards, I actually found its combat more enjoyable (or rather, tolerable) than IWD1 & 2.

Don't really like IE combats though since for close combatants, hits and misses always use the same animations which get stale quite fast. There aren't many things a pure fighter could do other than tanking.

For the campaign, IWD and BG both had lots of choices of illusions while the games are extremely railroaded. Despite being chaotic evil party, you must fight the baddies and what not in IWD.

No matter what you chose Imoen got kidnapped, doesn't matter how charismatic your character is the assassin in Candlekeep attacks you after conversation anyway, the ship you took would sink, all Bahalspawn brethren dialogue led to the same thing, more fights.

Never finished IWD, while after 2 runs of BG I never wanted to go back again. My friend however got addicted into BG2 and memorized all the positions where monsters stood still, so he could use spells to kill them outside range in a solo run.
i am weary of another EEedition , i had to sit out a long time waiting for them to fix the bugs and issues with BG EE , lost interest eventually , i think it still has a ton of issues
haha they released a patch recently , read its notes
