JudasIscariot: Only for really old games with sturdy boxes...and then I just store them at work as trophies :D
This.
No, at least for gaming.

Physical Copy > Steam, but < Digital DRM-Free (for those who keep their games anyways).

If the Digital DRM-Free selection was pitiful, I'd probably supplement with physical copies (though the selection isn't there anymore for PC games anyways), but between GOG, DotEmu and DRM-Free games at Humble Store & GamersGate, the selection is decent (over a lifetime's worth of quality content).

For movies, it's a different story. The alternative to physical disks are Steam-like clients so I still go for physical disks.

For books, all I have time to read nowadays are technical books (web technologies evolve like crazy, especially in the open-source world) and those are available at shops like Manning, O'reilly or InformIT DRM-free so I don't really buy that many physical books now.

Yes. I like to collect old CDs and cartridges.
Mostly no, either because they never come here or because they require third-party clients.

thiagovscoelho: I have never bought a physical copy of a computer game.

Neobr10: Not even those that came bundled with gaming magazines back in the 90s?

thiagovscoelho: I buy physical for consoles, though — I only have Nintendo ones and Nintendo doesn't make their online store available here for some shitty reason.

Neobr10: Even if we did have Nintendo's eShop it still wouldn't be worth it. Nintendo's digital games are as expensive as physical copies, not to mention that purchases are tied to your console. If your console dies for some reason you would lose everything you purchased. Not a good deal.
Don't remember any games in magazines, though one game did come in a cereal box I bought once. Not sure I ever played it. I don't think I bought the cereal because of the game though.

I would like the eShop because of the Virtual Console (Super Mario World! Earthbound!), the indie games (Shovel Knight! 1001 Spikes!) and the cheaper eShop-only Nintendo games (NES Remix! Dr. Luigi!). The indie games can mostly be had on PC, sure, but the rest can't, and even then I would still rather play games on my Nintendo gear given the chance.
Yes, I still buy physical copies of games. I prefer it that way, even if I also buy digital. I only buy digital when games are only digital, but even then, I opt for hard copies first.
yes i do

for some platforms its the only way to buy games
and i like to buy my games used or hunt for bargains mostly

These magazines were extremely common back in the 90s and early 2000s, they were pretty cheap (around U$6) and usually came bundled with some pretty good games (like Fallout 2, Jagged Alliance, Masters of Orion, Blood, and the list goes on). There was a new issue every month. That's how i acquired most PC games when i was younger.

Just make an US account, that's what i did to buy VC stuff. It's easy and you don't have to mess around with proxies or anything. Nintendo's eShop doesn't check the billing address like Sony and Microsoft do, so you can just use your credit card, no need to purchase pre-paid cards or anything.
No, and the only few games I'd like to buy to avoid having to jump into yet another account system for are out of print.

(Sims 2 Ultimate, Diablo 2+expansion and patches)
There is just something about having a physical box if front of you, putting it on a shelf in a collection, like a dragon's horde. But no, I haven't bought a physical copy of a game since finding steam in late 2011
IMO physical DRM free> physical DRM >DRM free digital> DRM digital

I'm at like 4mbps till 8GB and then at 512 kbps. So if it ain't physical, it'll take a long time to download. And CDs/DVDs are regionally priced, which is HUGE bonus.
