I'm curious ! With the digital market and stores like GOG, Steam, Humble Store... Do you continue to buy physical copies of games in store or occasion games in garage sales, regarding to the DRM issues?
Do you prefer to purchase a deluxe edition of a game in a boxed copy or a digital copy ?

For example, I like to go to some garage sales (vide-greniers in french) the Sunday and I find sometimes some good stuffs, like Painkiller Pandemonium (Painkiller Black Edition, Painkiller Overdose, Painkiller Redemption) for 1€ last week. Of course, I avoid games which need Steam activation or other online connection to be played (except if they are still new and scealed).

So, what's are your habits concerning your gaming purchases ?
Sometimes.
I always raid bargain bins in retail shops, but I prefer the bargain bins in electronic shops, simply because in those shops the shopkeepers have no idea about the true value of a game, they just see "old... meh to the bargain bin". Friend of mine found morrowind goty in a bargain bin for dirt cheap. I saw Gothic for under 1$.

I never buy deluxe/collectors editions, simply because I can't afford them :P

But I love digital shopping as well, because it's much more comfortable.

EDIT:
I forgot: In many retail shops here there are barely any PC games. Last time I went to a retail shop there were 4 shelves full of console games, and 1 shelf of PC games. Half of the shelf was Skyrim only, the other half was (I think) Dead Island. And some random leftover games on the bottom, like Assassin's Creed. Very limited to chose from =/

I still buy the occasional Ps2 exclusive and I'd consider repurchasing original Xbox games that I used to own (that aren't available on PC or Ps2) if the price is right.

As for PC games? Nah, not really, I never did to be honest. That's not to say I never would though, if I came across a new/unopened version of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines (especially the deluxe version) I'd definitely snap it up. The problem I have is that most of the places that sell new/unopened PC games are places like Target/Best Buy/Wal Mart and of course Gamestop, and they only sell the new "blockbuster" games for $60 when I can buy a digital copy for a much better price.

Edit: As far as "deluxe physical versions", I could care less usually. I'm not going to cry over not being able to spend an extra $20 to get a small poster and a cloth map that cost them a buck to make.

I do for PC only though because PC is the only system I play video games on.
Yes, I buy physical copies for PS3 and PC from time to time. I usually buy them used, and obviously only if the PC games don't require online DRM or anything like that.
I still buy physical copies, but only for games that don't require online activation. Which means, almost strictly, games older than 2008.
For the PC not really. If I'm bored, I occasionally still browse a retail store's PC games, but most of the selection is contaminated with DRM, tied to Steam anyway, more expensive than online or duplicates of games I already own the digital version of, and generally the selection is rather small compared to what I can get in online stores. Even the games from the bargain bin are not attractive anymore in comparison to their digital counterparts. If they're old, they're also more prone to cause issues on modern systems than games bought on GOG, for example. Besides, I prefer to play games in their original language if possible, and you hardly get those versions in retail stores - I have no use for the German translations. I don't care that much about physical extras and boxes, so to me it's mostly just expensive paper and plastic trash cluttering my shelves. I'm even thinking about getting rid of the old boxes and dvds I still own.

If anything, I only buy used PS2 exclusives (and I have trouble finding any good ones, and for good prices).

Grargar: I still buy physical copies, but only for games that don't require online activation. Which means, almost strictly, games older than 2008.
Exactly this. It's hard to find physical copies without DRM. And I don't buy anything with annoying DRM. (CD-Key is OK. Online activation, installing additional 'security' software, forced online accounts and region locking is not.)
Only for really old games with sturdy boxes...and then I just store them at work as trophies :D
I used to buy boxed copies of games (like hitman 1-4 which was like 7€) but then I run out of space to store them.....
And the fact that I have kids now, makes it difficult to keep them of being used as toys (shields, frisbies etc)
For PC? Barely ever, for a long time already
I still buy retail games as well. The main reasons for that are two: first, my internet connection isn't that good, which means that I find it more convenient to put the CD/DVD into the drive and install a game that way rather than having to download the installer over the internet(this is especially true for games with size over 2 GBs) ; secondly, I just like having retail boxes lying around ! :-) (even if they take some space)
I however don't buy retail games as often as I'd like to- the main reason being that retail prices are exorbitant in Cyprus (where I live), at least compared to prices in Greece(where I go on holidays, as I come from Crete-such an example I saw recently is GTA-Vice City for 10 euros in Cyprus, rather than 5 in Greece, or Sleeping Dogs for 20 euros in Cyprus rather than 10 in Greece- and this in the same electronics store chain!)
As for what retail games I buy, I pay attention so that the games I get don't require Steam(I don't like Steam, and this dislike mainly stemmed from my aforementioned not-so-good internet connection and my dislike for autoupgrades, but now I have even more reasons to not touch Steam, reading the negative experiences of other people). Other than that, I don't care even if they have an offline activation code- as long as the whole content of the game is on the disk and the game doesn't need to call home, I'm fine with it.
At any rate, I end up getting mainly older games on retail or indie games that have no Steam requirements. Just to give you an example, here are the retail purchases I made this summer while in Greece:
-Silent Hunter 4-I bought this from a DVD store that also rents console and pc games and cleaned up old stock for 6 euors-it didn't seem to have any Steam type DRM, but I guess I'll find out when I install the game.
-Diablo II +the expansion-10 euros(it was however brand new and with Win7 compatibility as it was sold by the Greek part of the aforementioned electronics chain)
-Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Collection(with KOTOR 1+2)-8 euros(same as before)
-LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4-10 euros(idem)
-The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief-10 euros(idem-note that, according to my purchases log, I bought it on Aug 21 ( a few days before GOG's revamp and its consequences and in retrospect I did well, seeing that The Raven now on GOG costs 25 euros/$32.90 with the newly imposed regional pricing-plus the retail version also has a manual)
-Alpha Protocol-5 euros(this one's cheaper as I bought it from an online greek store which has "Crazy Sundays" deals with rather low prices- I heard from the forums here that this was an underrated gem and thus grabbed it thinking I wouldn't lose anything to try it out)
-Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle(pretty much same case as before-btw, I'm aware this was in an Indie Gala bundle or something as a Steam version, but I don't like Steam and wanted to try this game so...)
The latter 2 had offline activation codes (and maybe one of the others, but I don't remember which one).

And that's all about my retail purchases- I guess I should get with playing some of those next time I'll be on holidays(as those seem to be some fairly time-consuming games, and I'm right now swamped with stuff to do. :-/).
Nah, they're just unnecessary clutter. I used to buy them in the past, now I can barely remember where I stored them. sometimes it's far quicker to download the files anew than to dig through all my drawers looking for discs.
Yes, definitely, i still buy physical games sometimes. However, i don't buy as many physical games for the PC as i do for consoles simply because most PC games are not released in physical discs here anymore. Not to mention that buying physical PC games nowadays is rather pointless now that all of them are tied to an account service (be it Steam, Origin or uPlay). That's why the only physical PC games that i buy nowadays are old titles.

For consoles i always get physical copies when available. In my opinion there's simply no point in buying a digital copy that will be tied to an account when i can get the physical DRM-free version elsewhere. I know that some people don't consider console games to be DRM-free and i don't really want to get into this discussion in this thread, but since i can sell, lend, and do pretty much whatever i want with my copy, that's good enough for me, it doesn't matter whether it's considered to be DRM-free or not.

By the way i just found a brand new sealed copy of No One Lives Forever 2 yesterday in a local gaming store. I couldn't fucking believe it when i saw it. And it was pretty cheap.

Not anymore, too many of my games were borrowed (with or without my permission), lost or broken.
