Trust me, I'm an engineer!

Democracy 3: Social Engineering DLC, an expansion pack adding new gameplay elements such as 26 new policies and 8 new political dilemmas, to the unparalleled "society sandbox" that is Democracy 3, is now available on GOG.com, for only $4.99.

For many of us, the term "social engineering" turns on a mental red flashing light alarming: "someone is trying to manipulate me. But since we're looking at a game expansion called Democracy 3: Social Engineering DLC, it might be a good idea to verify our knowledge. Quoting Wikipedia: social engineering is a discipline in social science that refers to efforts to influence popular attitudes and social behaviors on a large scale, whether by governments or private groups. A social engineer is one who tries to influence popular attitudes, social behaviors, and resource management on a large scale. [...] To achieve the best outcomes, all conclusions and decisions must use the most advanced techniques and include reliable statistical data, which can be applied to a social system. In other words, social engineering is a data-based scientific system used to develop a sustainable design so as to achieve the intelligent management of Earth’s resources with the highest levels of freedom, prosperity, and happiness within a population. For various reasons, the term has been imbued with negative connotations. However, virtually all law and governance has the effect of seeking to change behavior and could be considered "social engineering" to some extent.

There you have it. Not so bad, right? Certainly, you don't need to feel bad manipulating the public opinion and twitsing people's convictions for your own political gain in Democracy 3: Social Engineering DLC, for only $4.99 on GOG.com. Please note that this DLC needs the base game, Democracy 3 installed in order to run.
I guess there should be a link to the original Democracy 3 well visible on the DLC page. On the original game page there's a visible link to the DLC.
Wot? No discount? Steam is having 50% due to the release of the DLC. Also for the sale that is currently on, you could get all the two worlds, gorky, enclave, and septera for around $5 from bundlestars.

Looks interesting, but base game is still way out of my price range. Waiting until it drops under $20.
Can get it DRM free + Steam key for 50% off from http://www.positech.co.uk/democracy3/weekenddeal.html

The base game - DLC is still $4.99

Nope. You can get it EITHER DRM-Free OR Steam key from that address.
Also, it's pretty annoying how people recently always pop up writing things like "you can buy it on Steam for X bucks" on release threads. It's pretty unpolite to do that on a release announcement. Gog is very permissive on that, if you did something like that on other sites, your comment would probably get canceled.
Personally, i won't mind buying something on GOG even if it costs more to support the site and its strictly no-DRM policy. I despise strongly Steam.

Where are the friggin' dislikes? Where are those people who are against DLC? All of Omerta's DLCs including the expansion were low rated by bunch of mongoloids for the same reason. Double standard.

No. It's both
You can download it through BMT Micro and / or use a Steam Key
I bought it yesterday
Buy the game this weekend at 50% off the normal price!
Buyers of the game direct from us (the developers) get DRM-free download links to PC, Mac and Linux builds of the game, as well as a 'steam-key' to redeem on steam. The game is 50% off this weekend both direct and from steam...
And as much as I love buying from GOG I'm not so much of a sheep to any one company. I will buy where what I want is the cheapest. At the moment GOG is not selling Democracy 3 at a discount, whereas both Steam and the developer is... and I raised the developer's site as that is where you can get the game DRM free on sale

I see. Anyway, i'll still buy it on GOG. I don't think that supporting a company you like and which policies you completely agree with is "being a sheep". If the price is too high you can always wishlist it and wait for GOG to put it in a future sale.
And still, i think that publicizing a concurrent sale on a release thread is rude and unpolite. Why not opening another thread for that, at least?

tinyE: Don't know about that but they updated it so when you play as France you automatically and immediately surrender. Makes for a quick game but a realistic one.

IAmSinistar: Sounds more fun than the American Gridlock mission, where fringe groups and monied interests shut down the government every time you try to make progress.
TinyE's joke is overused and 75 years out of date.
Sinistar joke is topical.

Point goes to Sinistar.

We're making progress and there's a few less mongoloids on the site, that's a good thing. :P
