reaver894: Leaving its roots behind and concentrating on the fresh off the press games that people will play for 3 hours and forget and the games get lost in the sands of time as they are nothing new, just rehashed stories with up to date graphics.

Yes im a bit weird, but im OK with that

StingingVelvet: Still not seeing what pricing had to do with that.
cause steam will make you pay through the nose most of the time (exceptions being sales) and i have a sinking feeling that $30 is not going the be the top tier.

Dont get me wrong, if GOG got something like borderlands 2 as a preorder (not gonna happen but couldnt think of another title off hand) then a higher (read as roughly equal) price tag should be matched. but so far the 19.99 mark worries me as developers and publishers will push as hard as they can for more money. in some cases the extra is deserved, in others... not so.

Example: tuesdays release, Daikatana $19.99...... (fictional, example is fictional)

Translation: "I hate publishers and enjoy raging about modern gaming so here is incoherent nonsense."

Seriously bro.

thats your interpretation. id prefer if you didnt "translate" and twist my meaning.

as I said, in some cases the extra is deserved. Not all. But some.

Also when did i say I hate publishers?

I said I have a sinking feeling about the top tier prices, I said devs and publishers will push for the higher prices (they are out to make a profit so it is common sense they want the best price they can get)

So in future please try not to be so patronizing, if you feel that is what my meaning is dont post your interpretation and pass it off as being factual.

Yes, but they won't price the game higher than the market will bear. To take it to an extreme, if GOG introduced a thousand dollar price point, no publisher would use it because no customer would buy it. Base prices lower on Steam and the other services all the time for this very reason, so I wouldn't worry about publishers jacking the prices up specifically for GOG just because they can.
Well DKS is already DRM-free. It launched with Securom, which has since been patched out. The Amazon DD version already has it removed. I actually got it from Amazon for about $6 during a sale a month ago, and it's a good game, but the standard retail price is still very high. I can definitely see it coming here in the future, but I doubt it will be here soon. The base (non-sale) asking price from the other big retailers is going to have to drop substantially before Larian is willing to offer it here, methinks.

As kadeen said, no one is gonna charge more than the normal market price. Assassin's Creed is $20 here because it is $20 everywhere. If DKS comes here it will be the same price as it is everywhere else, barring sales.

This all started because you made a silly comment about Steam, showing obvious passionate bias. I just wanted to see what you backed that up with, and it's basically "I want cheap stuff that isn't crappy modern gaming." That's fine I guess, but GOG ain't all about that anymore.
DKS is effectively two rather large and very good games. I have it on PC (ED plus FoV) and on 360 (DKS). So that would be a fair price I think.

Not all modern games are "crappy" and i dont recall saying that either. Steam jumps on every title they can get their hands on and in my opinion some of the prices are not justified. Although GOG is not just old games anymore i havent seen them officially dropping the "good" part. I think GOG should be selective and keep the quality high instead of quantity. Id rather 1 good game released every second month than 2 never heard of games a week. (exaggeration)

Now if you want to continue putting words into my mouth and twisting my meaning go ahead, im not wasting my time with this anymore. It was a feeling and opinion i had, if you dont agree/like it thats your problem. Im done in this topic.

K. I still don't really get you though... quality is subjective. Every game you think is "not worth it" has a fan.

Assassin's Creed is a perfect example of pushing the price too far, it's actually 10$ everywhere and no amount of "goodies" justifies that price.

On the other hand 20$ for Heroes V is lower then normal and is a good price/value pack.

On topic, getting DKS on GOG would be perfect, a lot of people have missed it because of a parallel launch with Dragon Age. Not to mention how the game has improved since launch, you might consider it a superior RPG today.

How is it $10 everywhere? Normal not-sale price is $20 on every digital store I can find.

It's 10 euro bucks everywhere, so I assumed the usual exchange rate $=euro is in place.

Looks like for the first time the euro zone has a better deal then the US.
