So I hear that Divine Divinity, which just the other day got brought to steam, uses a higher patch level than the GOG version, also it has widescreen support native, and Larian worked over the source-code for Windows 7.

Does GOG plan to patch our version of DD to this version?
Why? 1.006 and 1.005a are essentially the same - no added fixes or features - only "feature" of the Steam-Version is that it doesn't work on Win98.

They are only different builds.

Here I cite Lar-q, the mod from the Larian-Forums:

I can understand your confusion - the version on GOG and the version on Steam are different ports due to an accident at Larian that caused us to lose the source code of the GOG version. It's a pretty stupid thing, but sometimes things go wrong. So to make the Steam version, the port to adapt for Windows 7, had to be redone. Therefore, there's no relation between the GOG version and the Steam version, other than they're based on the same original game.

Yes, I did read this. But the native widescreen support is the main thing, many GOG users may not be tech savvy enough to find out how to edit the .ini file to get widescreen resolutions.

GOG's DD supports widescreen resolutions, you just choose it in the configuration utility that's provided.

I don't know if that is funny or sad. Well, thumbs up to Larian for still supporting their older games!

Many GOG.com users were enough good to modify config.sys / autoexec.bat to run games under DOS - that would be sometimes impossible tech for average todays gamer.

I'm willing to bet though that noone misses that part of PC gaming. If you do you're crazy. =P

1) I really liked that. I like digging in "codes". I liked that feeling when the game finally worked.
2) I gave this as example as GOG's users are "not so stupid" as he thinks.
i tried the GOG version a bit and it was very buggy, like in the beginning and you need to go up the stair and then your character vanishes and you can just move the map with nothing else.

I wish they'd finally patch the buggy mess that is Beyond Divinity ... :/
