I actually posted this in the gaming deals thread, but it got swept away amidst the Steam sales, so I'm posting it here again. Here's the press release:
Dallas, Texas, December 30, 2010 - Pre-orders of Din's Curse: Demon War expansion are now available (Windows & Mac) at http://www.soldak.com/Dins-Curse/Demon-War.html

Gamers who pre-order the expansion will receive full access to the latest beta build, a reduced pre-order price of only $8.99, the opportunity to give Soldak feedback on our forums which can influence the game, and of course, the final version when it becomes available.

Din's Curse: Demon War is the first expansion for the unique action RPG Din's Curse. Din's Curse is a single player and co-op multiplayer action RPG for Windows and Mac PCs with 141 class combinations (196 with the expansion), infinite number of dynamically generated towns, real consequences, and a dynamic, evolving world.

The demons of Aleria are furious! After the 4th Great War and necromancer Ciglio's death, the undead horde has been causing utter chaos, attacking everything that moves... even demons. Demonkind were quite happy when Serina, a human city, was overrun, but that was before thousands of human zombies poured into Kraval, slaughtering the huge demon city. Thus began the Demon War. Demons of all kinds are fighting back. They're hunting down and killing any undead they find. Oh, and they blame the humans for this entire mess. For spite, they razed Serina to the ground even though it was already deserted.

As a servant of the mighty Din, it's your responsibility to safeguard humans from danger. This was a hard task before. Do you have what it takes to save humankind from the Demon War?

For more information about Din's Curse, head over to http://www.soldak.com/Dins-Curse/Overview.html

Features:

* Play the Demon Hunter class (now 196 total class combinations)
* Fight many new demons (3 new species, 8 new types, 40 new variants)
* Solve tons of new quests
* Help the NPCs as they interact much more with the world and each other
* Experience many more world modifiers
* Explore new environments
* Interact with the world in new ways
* Survive the Demon War
* Basically experience a lot more of what makes Din's Curse incredibly unique
From what I understand, it's basically the original Din's Curse on steroids, so if you liked it, you'll probably love this, and if you didn't like Din's Curse, Harrison Ford will hunt you down. I just pre-ordered it, and will post my comments later after my morning jog.
Wait, this is a game made in Texas? Fuck yeah! Might have to buy the games now when I get my paycheck because this sounds awesome.
Not sure which game in the series I tried, but had a lot of potential. But the art style just irks me. I don't mind "retro" and "low-tech" graphics, but this just feels "generic".

Plus, the tutorial and referencing/getting rid of the pop-up helper messages/quest hints was just tedious and convoluted.

Game sounds really good, but I'll be waiting for a good <$20 bundle or so with a reliable DD.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up!
I enjoyed Din's Curse very much, but was quite put off by the fact that most every unique enemy could kill my Priest in 1-2 hits, which rendered battles against such named enemies quite a chore (lead them to the level gate, hit them 1-2 times, go back to town to heal at Din's Altar, back to dungeon, 1-2 hit, rinse and repeat...). Otherwise, I had much fun with it.
I shall consider investing in the expansion.
Not bad. It's nothing as mind-blowing as the feeling I first got when playing Depths of Peril, or the first time I killed a boss by causing a cave-in on him in Din's Curse, but it's still good fun. Has a lot of kinks to be worked out though, but so far it's definitely worth the $9 I paid.

It's definitely a lot more chaotic. I can't play dungeons that are 10 levels above me anymore with the Dangerous Monsters and Raging Hordes modifiers turned on. It's basically, as mentioned in my first post, Din's Curse on steroids.

I've bought the expansion, and I also like it (the Demon Hunter is sure a neat class, and I like the new quests, machines and modifiers, too), but I find the evidence-seeking quests a bit over the top. Not only is it a very time-consuming pixelhunt, but in the meantime, a lot of bad things tend to happen in the dungeons, and also, you can actually run out of time.
What do you think of them?
Haven't had too many of them, only four in the three worlds I've played so far. I stopped playing because of a bug that reset the dungeons everytime you exited the game in the town. Anyway the evidence quest was okay for me. I didn't have much trouble finding them since the item names show up on the screen anyway.

You mean they show up like regular items? I recall they don't, but I could be wrong.
As for that resetting bug, it's been addressed in the latest patch (1.013).

Hmm I'm sure they did. I can't quite remember for sure now, as I usually play the game in a rush, but I do remember having no issues finding the evidence.

Thanks, I'll check if/when I find an evidence next time (right now, I have to find two, with 2-3 unique monsters running amok 5-7 levels deeper).
You're okay, I had 5 unique monsters on one level in the last world I played. I must have died 4 times on that level, as each boss was at least 10 levels above me :(
