Last xmas I got a very nice ebook reader that I've been using a lot this summer. Now I ran out of books to read on it and I want to buy some.

Can you recommend a place to buy DRMfree epubs? I want to be able to read the books I buy on any device, anytime, and not to have them linked to an account or another.

Is it possible to buy books on amazon or other big sellers and convert them to epub with the help of some homebrewed software?

Thanks in advance

jonathan
The Baen Free Library has a bunch of e-books, perhaps even something you would enjoy.

Thanks, I didn´t know about them. Totally different from what I usually read, but definitely worth a look.

Thanks agan.

StoryBundle comes out with offers every month or so, fantasy, crime etc

Also Smashwords has plenty of free and to buy books.

Lots of Classic books are available to download. Mobileread has a load of freely downloadable books.

I have an old Kobo and have been reading the free books from Smashwords for at least twelve months. You can search in categories and length of bookso its easy to find some books that take your fancy
Thanks Huff, lots of stuff in your post I'll have to check out later.
