nmillar: We still have bands like Kreator, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Exodus, King Diamon, Testament, Gojira, Napalm Death and Vader going strong ... \m/

Navagon: Gojira! Hell yeah. They don't get nearly enough recognition.
O gosh Gojira are so awesome. I think I've only heard one of there albums but it was so great.

Death is also incredible. .
Napalm Death are awesome ! :)

Does Dimmu Borgir count ?

Doesn't quite fit in with the others, but they are an awesome band nonetheless - got most of their albums already! :)

nmillar: Exodus
Well, Exodus went a bit downhill with Dukes and the D tuning, but for each nay, there's a yay. I mean, we could go all the way and say Metallica is still there, even though they didn't release anything worth listening to for over 25 years.. But i digress...
So i'll throw in Heathen to the mix of "still alive" bands.
What is amazing, that after 20 years of coma, they came back, and sound like nothing happened, no modern simplicity in riffs, a load of neat solos, etc. Sounds like 1989, and a great 89 it is. Great stuff. ;>

Toxic waltz by Exodus is a hidden Thrash Gem in my opinion. Do you like Bathory and Celtic Frost?

They're more black metal. But I don't see why they don't count since the OP is asking about the one group, not the subgenre they spawned.

Not long ago i was reliving A Social Grace once again, gotta love what those guys've done.
Also, worth mentioning is PW collaboration with Deathrow, which resulted in End Amen, effin' great album.;>

Bluefox91: Do you like Bathory and Celtic Frost?
Sure, as long as it's the Viking era Quorthon, and the earlier CF stuff.
And yeah, i also love Coroner, although that seems mandatory if someone likes Death and CF...

Aren't they speed metal though? Then again if they're that fast then they must be.

You could class them as Speed Metal, some even call them crossover. To me Crossover is stuff like D.R.I and early C.O.C, etc..

Well, Corrosion of Conformity certainly have undergone some changes over the years.

I agree. There new Ep is a return to there old sound.
