Navagon: The higher resolutions aren't so appealing either given that the texture resolution was so incredibly low. If the texture resolution is not at all higher than on the consoles then personally I'm not interested in having the screen resolution that much higher either. Especially given the lack of UI. It just serves to show up the rest of the game as kinda blurry looking.

StingingVelvet: Whatever you say man.
I love Dead Space on PC......anyone who didn't is tripping as you say.
Despite a few failings as a port, I enjoyed Dead Space on PC. I didn't mind the mouse filtering, really. It wasn't as smooth or fast as Unreal Tournament, but it probably wasn't meant to be. I didn't have any problem carving up the alien zombies. In a game that makes such a hilariously big deal out of precision aiming, playing with a gamepad is definitely the last thing I want to do.

Tantrix: However, DS 2 is not. It's a generic shooter. So it's PS3.
Yeah I have to say that after playing the demo I was distinctly underwhelmed by it, story wise it seems interesting as do some of the puzzles but gameplay wise it seemed even more of a shooter than the first. That COULD be the 'show off the cool shit in the demo to get people to buy it' thing that happens sometimes but thats never been a way to sell a game to me so I'm afraid they'll have to wait.

For people who've played the demo, did you think there was a more distinct separation of puzzle & combat areas? When I was playing I could pretty much tell as soon as I was in a non-combat area and could safely let my guard down, rather killed the tension

Sometimes you can enter an area with calm musaks and suddenly NECROMORPHS BLARGRHRHAWARBL!

Also IMO the story is my favorite part in DS series and also IMO more of a focus than the slaughtering.....which works for me as I loved it wholeheartedly.

BTW, what were your fave guns in Dead Space? I loved the saw gun and assault rifle myself for big baddies, and the plasma cutter for smaller single or double teamed baddies.....along with the flamethrower for those damn parasite things.
IGN's review is funny... they talk about how amazing the game is, but almost every reason they have made me disappointed. It's more like CoD now, and that's good?

DS 1 is supposed to be around what DS2 is gonna be....so i'm guessing it'll be good.

Oddly enough, I went for the plasma cutter achievement in my second playthrough and realised it really was the only weapon I liked anyway

I'd definitely not describe DS2 as being like CoD now but it did feel more combatty. Still felt like dead space combat but there was just more of it than I liked and the fact that isaac seems to turn a lot faster now makes him feel less solid

I only beat the game once but all I used was the plasma cutter and the force gun for the little insect dudes. Nothing else felt as powerful and awesome as those two guns.

I'd rather him turn/move a bit faster than have him slouch along gauntly like he's hung over from a long night of partying every time i aim a weapon around.

Also the "TRUE" zero gravity is supposed to be better than the first(no more point to point jumping I hear)

Also for weapons, it sometimes was fun to try new weapons on baddies and see what happened and if it killed them quicker or better or not......like how the saw weapon blade could be either hovered and used to cut enemies limbs off as you moved the blade with the pointer or shot out straight through a group of lined up/grouped enemies and stuck in the wall behind them after that. Of course the kinetic power could be used similarly too, but I still love me some SAWWWWWW.

Try the fully upped flamethrower on for size...nothing says fun like crispy critters flailing and skittering as they burn. >:-)

I thought it gave him a sense of inertia, like he was wearing a big metal suit or something. It felt way more natural than in resident evil 5 anyway

Yeah you can control him with what I'm guessing are little jets. Interesting but I rather liked the jumping approach, it felt unique rather than just a jetpack kind of thing

Oh I used all of them on my first play, just that the second made me remember that the plasma cutter was my favourite

1. You'd figure with Issac being in the future and all and with holographic displays on his suit and such that he wouldn't walk around like a knight in full plate armor. :P...:)

2. Fo' shizzle? Sounds like some R2-D2 type shit. I'm hoping for grandiose midair zero-gee battles then.

3. Cool,cool.

Do you mean this one?

The review is a bit amateurish, but where did you get Call of Duty?

They talk about it being more on rails and offering consistent explosive action.

the first dead space had some backtracking but it also was semi on-rails in a way as it was pretty linear......also don't always take one review as 100% accrurate....go out there and get a good sampling of differing POVs.

Yeah I know, I am not saying this turned me off the game, my amazon pre-order should be shipping today and I even got the collector's edition. I expect to like it a lot, I am just worried it will be too action focused.
