Anyone know what the odds are of this game coming to GOG? Anyone else ever played it? I know it was a bit buggy, but if I had to pick one of the top 5 games I played as a kid, this would be in the mix.

What say you GOG, can we look at getting this?

Thanks

I still have the original cd-rom .
Back in the day It was one of my favourite rpg together with Daggerfall.
It was a very open ended game but quite difficult
The bugs killed it for me. Had a great feel to it, some interesting combat mechanics along with a different atmosphere compared to most of the other RPGs of its day. Too bad it was crash-tastic.

Do you know if you played the latest (?) version, which I think is 483.07? Was it still quite buggy?

I'm currently considering starting playing the game, already have it on my laptop. I played it a bit back when it was released, didn't get too far though.
You could check out mount and blade:warband. It has a similar feel and one might be pressed to call it the bastard child of darklands and say king's bounty?
Yeah, Darklands is one of my favorite games of yore, I still play it sometimes...I don't have too many crashes with that game myself...I think most of the major bugs were fixed...some screwy things may happen, but, I have played it for hundreds of hours, and even some within the last year, and it is still fun, warts and all...I hope GOG does bring it hear, it is a classic, and a worthy RPG for us gamers with longer teeth/memories...And Mount and Blade Warband...oh yeah, it's something special...be sure to give it a go if you haven't yet...it just keeps growing on you, in a good way. :)

I'm going to guess that I did NOT play the latest version. Gave up on it and forgot about looking for patches a few years later. No longer have it but I wouldn't mind giving it another go if it were to show up here.
Forgive me for digressing from the topic of discussion but how do you become king in warband. I understand that one way is to capture a castle or town of a warring faction independently (after being released from your oath to the king) but then I would also lose all the lands that I have been awarded. Is there a way around this?

Without a guide, I just can't beat a German rpg. They are just too hard.
I think that they are Polish (which is nearly the same thing, I know) but the game is still a lot of fun.

Lucky for you I love Warband enough to give you a heads up! ;D Though when I become king I never become a vassal first, since I like a real challenge, plus I don't want to swear alligence to those fools ;-P..I have read on Tale Worlds Fourms that if you are a vassal already, all you have to do is capture a town/castle, request the king give it to you, and keep capturing towns or castles until the king refuses your request, then you have the option to rebel and thus keep what you have.
Here is the fourm page that talks about this (among other things):
