I made a cursory check through the forums but didn't find any relating specifically to Dark Sun. The new D&D promo reminded me of this game and I was surprised to find that GOG doesn't have Dark Sun in their library :(

I'm sure there are other fans of this game luring in the forums. I haven't checked yet to see if Dark Sun has been requested or if it's in the works but I'd like to know how many other people would love to see this game made available through GOG.

I think Shattered Lands and Wake of the Ravager are both freeware now.

Really? Where did you hear this? Link please?

I like both Dark Sun games mentioned above, no matter how buggy they were. I got a bit trouble with the 2nd game on one spot though (the Sinking Stones Maze in Volcano Core area), since the game was too fast for me and changing the DOSBox cycle did not seem to help much. In the end luckily I got helped (sent a saved game file by a forum member on the Dark Sun Online: The Age of Heroes).

They don't have the rights to the old SSI games as of yet.

Google "Freeware games list wiki" and then click on the Wikipedia site. This list is a few years old, so I don't know if the links still work.
I have both of the original games on CD, but I've been hoping GOG would put them on their catalogue just so that they'd work out the DOSBox issues for me.

Too bad they wouldn't be able to fix the bugs. Any fan-patches for these things?

I wouldn't quite trust the source they mention.
One of them lists Descent 1/2 as Freeware, which is certainly not the case.

It's a pity though that the company that purchased the rights seems to have pretty much vanished and not interested in earning anything. Strange thing to buy a license and not to ever intend on using it.

I didn't find them listed here:

nor by googleing dark sun freeware. The Wikipedia pages for either games didn't mention anything about being released as freeware either.

I thought the purpose of purchasing licenses and patents was to make sure that *other* people couldn't compete in your market, regardless of whether or not you are selling a product or service ;)

Does Ubisoft still own all the rights to the SSI games? Because I'd also love to see some of the other "Gold Box" series. I checked both here and on Steam but neither service carries any of the old SSI games.
