KavazovAngel: Yea, but GOG will win more customers, and Zenimax will get pretty much nothing.
That's what a lot of people fail to grasp. If it was up to GOG those games would be on here along with the Command & Conquer games EA released free. Fact is EA and Zenimax have used those titles to gain attention for their most recent versions and it would serve no purpose to them to allow GOG to distribute them. Of course that may change if those companies ever decided to join GOG.

I thought the "free" C&C games were ad supported?

Not that I am aware of.

booger: Something that I think Gog should do is to add both Dagger fall and Arena to there collection of free games :)

Zenimax will get the same benefits as any of the other publishers on Gog. They'll monetise a back catalogue that - up until recently - they were giving away for free.

Just about everyone wins., since for the modest expense, the old games wind up exposed to an audience that will appreciate them and we get better, more compatible editions of these classics.

They are already giving the games for free, and you're saying they will suddenly start selling them? That's bad PR, bigger minus than the small income they'll get from selling the games.

Doesn't seem to have harmed Activision any with Zork, I guess people consider it worth the small cost to have it all preconfigured and ready to play with DOSbox.

Nothing but royalties.

This is true but a company that size can shrug off a minor inconvieniece of a bit of bad press if they did charge for a game that was previously free.
Drug dealers do it all the time, a few free samples to get rid of older stock, get em hooked shaft them for the new stuff cause they pay out thee ass for it,
Big companies like that have a common grounds with the criminal circuit, they just mainly keep it above board.

(Please disregard the above im tired and grumpy and picking fleas at everything today)

Preconfigured and ready to play... nothing a three minutes of fooling around with some numbers won't do. Its not rocket science. :)

Last I checked, Zenimax wasn't exactly tiny itself.
