Personally I believe that Ulysses S Grant was a much better commander than the self-publicising, flouncy haired Custer.... What? Its not that kind of 'General Discussion' oh I see...
*tumble weed*
Sorry, that's been building up for a while and I just had to get it out of my system
Seriously though - I'm still at a bit of a honeymoon stage with GOG right now and am genuinely excited that its Tuesday tomorrow - what you you think the new announcement day will bring? Another batch of EA games? Some random FMV based adventure no-one cares about? The addition of a whole new publisher? Seriously - it could be anything!
Do you think EA stuff will even continue in batches now - they could be put back into drip-feed rotation with the rest of the publishers I suppose...
/end of rambling musings
Other than getting murdered by Indians, Custer was actually a pretty competent general.

On topic, GOG is awesome
GOG seem to be having all kinds of legal worries with EA's stuff. Something which perplexes EA - they think we should have the expansions already. If you ask me it's just GOG being over-careful after all the games that have already been withdrawn from sale. Or it could be EA's left hand not knowing what the right is doing.

Either seems completely plausible.
Were there any porn games made about Grant?

Wow now that was a genuinely interesting tip-bit - almost makes this whole thread seem worthwhile - almost
As its the whole of the expansions, not just a selection or, say, all the Bullfrog ones, it makes me think that it's something big and overarching to do with EA generally
My best guess is that they're read something in a certain way that makes it so that technically, even though they would give them away for free. and even though they're for games so old that no other DD sites would care about them, they could be classed as 'DLC' and therefore be subject to all sorts of Byzantine agreement between EA, Steam and who knows who else...
I heard from a little fishy that they will release Mad Dog McCree tomorrow.

EA is structured somewhat like a Portuguese Man o' War. It might appear to be a singular organism, but in reality it's more like a cooperative of separate organisms that share a collective identity.

With boxed games this isn't a problem as each regional headquarters does its own thing and releases (or not) whatever it wants and at the prices of its choosing.

But with online sales increasingly dominating and stores like Steam and GOG gaining an increasing market share, EA's lack of centralised structure is really starting to show. This is why some EA games aren't available in certain regions. Why sales only affect certain regions and why pricing varies across the board.

With GOG they can't do this. Which is why how GOG actually signed EA is still a mystery to me. But while that's a mystery, why GOG is having a hard time unravelling the legality of releasing EA games here is not. It's quite possible that while EA US is okay with the release of the expansions, EA UK might see a legal problem that necessitated the game's removal because of it. Because GOG is releasing across all regions, and cannot / will not restrict certain regions, this is what they have to deal with.

Point, set, match good sir!

It's amazing that somebody combed through the text to wikify "erection".
Also
received significant criticism because of its crude simulation of a rape
Did people want a finer simulation?
with an enlarged erection
How did they know it's enlarged?

Holy mother of Einstein! The sordid history of early video games never ceases to amaze me :-O

Because it's the same size as his leg?

Haha my favorite is:
The game's literature stated "if the kids catch you and should ask, tell them Custer and the maiden are just dancing."

The box cover alone makes this wiki entry the most interesting of the year!
The first time I came to learn about Custer was many years ago through Garth's comic strip. I forgot which episode it was. Needless to say I did not have a good impression on the General.
Hm. The AVGN has a bit to say about Custer, and it isn't anything nice.
