Hey guys,

Could any of you guys recommend me a good music service? I'm looking for a great variety of music and decent pricing. I admit i'm behind the times in terms of music and IPods and such. I just want a site I can buy music, download to WMP and play them on the computer. Any suggestions will help...Thanks all
Maybe not the best place to purchase digital music, but I personally use Amazon.com once in a while. I never had a problem (use the mp3 on my computer and mp3 player with no restrictions). They cover lots of genre and have quite a nice selection to choose from.
I'm also a fossil that really don't know or care what i-pod is but mostly.. in music.. I just use youtube. It's still a bit bad, because then I should know what I am searching.
7digital is really, really good. If you don't live in the US and can't use Amazon, it's brilliant.
In principle Amazon.com for legal DRM free music...
However it does depends on your music preferences as there may be better sites geared up towards specific music types.
I also strongly recommend you take a look at Logitech Squeezebox devices for playback.
I use amazon all the time. Higher bitrate, standard mp3 format and no DRM.
Amazon.com offers mp3's with no DRM (but they do have watermarking, so they can tell who they sold that copy to). Their prices are okay if you can hit the 3-5 dollar sales.

Some artists will sell FLAC audio off their website (FLAC is loss-less, not compressed), their prices are generally poor but you support the artists.

Or you can pay 25 bucks for a concert ticket and another 16 for the album at the concert and rip it via EAC.

EAC (Exact Audio Copy, use LAME for compression, it'll do that automatically for you) will rip any used CD for you, this (i.e. used CD store plus EAC) is the cheapest way to get good, quality MP3s.

Finally, Zune Pass costs 15 dollars per month but offers 10 DRM free MP3s per month, so you can roll your streaming service and purchase into one bundle, I think their catalog is around 11-12 million songs, so a lot of top 40 shit, but not solely that. Zune Pass will play on your Windows machine, XBox 360, WP7, or Zune (which they just discontinued, but you can still buy the players for a few months).

FLAC is actually compressed. It's still lossless, though.

It might not be what you're looking for, but OverClocked Remix has a great variety of music for free. It's all rearranged game music, though, and finding specific kind of music may be tricky, since they're not listed by genre (but since they're free and even have a youtube preview for every track, checking 'em is mostly just about available time).

There's also Bandcamp. It can be a bit difficult to find stuff there if you don't know somewhat precisely what you're looking for, but you can preview listen to the whole albums/tracks for free. Buying 'em usually costs something, but you can then choose your file format.
Thank you everyone, you all have given me some good options
