It's time for the fifth and the last contest in our "GOG.com Contest Week". We've already received lots of entries for the previous ones and we're sure with this contest it will be the same :). This time we wanted to re-run a contest which we did some time ago on our Facebook page - we'd like to ask you to prepare a GOG.com ad. Use your imagination, crazy photoshop or paint skills, the GOG logo and come up with something beautiful and funny like this ;) or creative like this and send it to users@gog.com until Wednesday, October 13 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

From all entries we will pick 3 winners:
the winner will receive Activision catalogue
1st runner up will receive the games from JoWooD catalogue
2nd runner up, thanks to our friends at PC Gamer, will receive a PC Gamer UK subscription.

Creativity for the win!
My entries - "official" is white one, black one is an alternative. ;)

Very nice image and message. My vote for this one. I would have only changed the Comic Sans font. A Hobo, maybe. Or something more like a Courier to give it an "old" touch. And without periods.

I agree that maybe the font is not the best one, but I still like it and I wanted to add a touch of contrast between "old" GOG marked key and "modern" rest of ad (like: old games played on modern computers). I had ideas to add maybe some other graphical elements, but in the end I decided that "simplest messages are sometimes the best one" and that's how the ad should look like.

Thanks for vote. ;)
Well, since people are attaching them here as well as sending them in, here's my take as well :)

That's nice!
When lookin' at your work, I'm sure you have way too much time in your hands.. ;)
Thanks to a heavy work load I never managed to finish the one I was working on to the extent I wanted it. So it's rather basic... I recall the double page spread adds you used to get in those freebie Sunday magazines with the newspapers in the UK when I was younger and I wanted to emulate one of those.

However I didn't have the time to add the page folds, coffee stains or staples, etc. =/ So, as crap at as it is in it's current state, here's what I sent in.

Well, is that not why we are all here ? ;-) I don't ordinarily do anything graphics-related, so this was a bit of a learning experience. Hell, I think the last time I fired up a proper vector graphics package was somewhere before the turn of the Millenium. In other news, Inkscape is pretty nifty :-)

taczillabr: Phew... here's my entry.
Thank you kind - now I know, how I look, spending some quality time with my noble 486 junk :)
Congrats to the tree winners, all excellent entries, I really liked that one at the museum.

I knew I wouldn't have a chance without having such good photo editing skills... but it was fun, and fun to share the entries with others.

Actually, I re-thought about the image after I submitted it... and I didn't wanted to be offensive, but yes it can be interpreted in an offensive manner.

The real intention was to highlight the ease of use when playing the games purchased from GOG, doing only what really matters to gamers from the actual generation, you know: play a game. That is what I meant by having a slick netbook in your lap, with an old game running in it after a double click in an .exe.

Sorry if you felt it was wrong or something. Hardware isn't junk. I know there are people that like to fiddle with the hardware and software to make them work like it's back in the day, more than actually playing the game.
And yes, I'm fine with people liking that stuff; it's even human history, computer history after all. ;)

Well, if it would ever appear offensive to anyone, _some_ problem might be displaying there, but it's definitely not yours :) It was freakin' funny, and in fact my favorite one out of all ad poster entries! :)
In fact the main reason I couldn't stop laughing, was like hey, that might actually be how I look while trying to put the High seas Trader to work - I'd only add a tea and sandwich next to keyboard :)

As it goes for the hardware - while for me or perhaps some other people here an old "junk" might be all but junk, I'm aware of the common approach. But keeping some sanity and respecting each other's views is I believe perfectly enough.
History... isn't it written as we speak, anyway? :)

Good, glad you found it to be funny. :)

I've made it in a hurry, so it wasn't high quality and there's one or two typos... but the main message is there, and that picture is a classic. Oh, and I knew I was missing the food in the keyboard, indeed.:)

Yes I do respect other's views (One person's junk could be your treasure), but that also depends of the viewer's interpretation, his mood etc you know.

There is no such thing as history anyway, we invented the term. :p
