So it might sound stupid, but i was cleaning up my PC and deleted a couple of folders that i thought i didn't need and everything seemed fine.

However upon selecting things such as 'Device Manager' then having the screen fade black and the user account control asking me if i want to allow access or not, when i click yes it just stays on the faded screen and i can't do anything except CTRL ALT DEL out of it... i deleted a folder called wise installation wizard and wondered if that was it but i'm kinda worried i may have deleted something i shouldn't have.

Any Ideas? Also i already emptied the recycle bin.

Wise handles un-installation of programs you have installed. So you've deleted something that may impact upon your ability to uninstall some, or maybe all of the things you have installed. That's not good.

So you've probably been deleting other important things too which has lead to your problem. Unless you've managed to disable that too, try using a restore point and see if that undoes the damage.

In future use something like CCleaner (free) to clean up your system.

Thanks, i actually just restarted my PC and now i can actually click Device manager and such which is weird, i'm not sure why it did it previously.... the wise installation folder i deleted was in C:/Program Files/Common Files and it had 2 setup things... probably dumb to delete it but if it's working again i guess that wasn't the cause.

I'm still worried so i'm going to see if stays running smoothy.....if i go to a restore point now will it bring those files back?

It should bring anything back that's important. I don't know if those count. There might be something else that you've removed that it will though.

It shouldn't affect the running of your computer. But you'll probably find that there are now two programs you can't delete anymore.

This may in turn affect your ability to re-install those programs due to the installers recognising that you've already installed them, whether you manually remove the install directories or not.

CCleaner might help there too. It has a registry cleaner that can sort out errors. It lets you create a backup before fixing the registry. Needless to say you should do that first just in case. But this might actually solve the errors you've been having. You never know.
