If you have downloaded anything from of the following digital outlets:

Amazon
Direct2Drive
GamersGate
Impulse
OnLive
Steam
and others

Please share you experience with GOG.com. Specifically, please compare: bonuses, contents, customer support, download clients, DRM, prices, special deals, etc., their pros and cons. Rank them if you will.

I have not dealt with them. I have a Steam account for the longest time but I have never bought anything from Steam. I read that games downloaded from Steam would require the Steam client to run, and that just puts me off. GamersGate seems to have many games that are DRM-free, but their prices are more expensive than the other outlets.

I am interested in getting some games that are not currently available on GOG.com, but those other outlets carry those games, (e.g., Majesty Gold, Jade Empire, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines.) I would rather buy them from GOG.com, but GOG.com does not have them now and may never get them. I am wondering if I should go ahead and buy them from the other outlets. I want to determine the quality of those outlets, and settle on just one or two instead so I won't have ten different games on ten different places. (Unfortunately, once I buy the games elsewhere, I won't be getting them from GOG.com later. )

Thanks.
