GOGnards with an inclination for wargaming may have played the eponymous SSI classic game years ago.

Matrix has recently released Strategic War in Europe, which looks like it might have some real potential.

Price isn't too bad, either (for a wargame)

I think I remember reading it's actually pretty good. I just am not sure how I feel about the "tile" soldiers, which has also kept me away from Case Blue.

Their other game, Storm Over the Pacific is also currently only $7.50 on Desura.

And I know how you feel about the pricing. I would have probably bought a few of the HPSSims wargames a while ago if they weren't so pricey.
