http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/06/09/neal-stephensons-making-a-game-called-clang/

Pitch:
"it's time to step back, dump the tired conventions that have grown up around trigger-based sword games, and build something that will enable players to inhabit the mind, body, and world of a real swordfighter. CLANG will begin with the Queen of Weapons: the two-handed longsword used in Europe during late medieval and early renaissance times."

It has just started and is already creeping towards $45.000. The project looks very interesting, if it manage to deliver what it promises.

Edit: Yes, should have mentioned that Neal Stephenson is behind this project....

OMG, awesome!!!
That is pretty cool
Weird, I'd never heard of Neil Stephenson until today when I was looking up good Sci-fi and Snow Crash came up on a list, has anyone read it? Anyway, this looks pretty awesome. He seems very... deadpan/awesome.

You know what'd be awesome? If this sort of technology showed up in games like Mount&Blade or whatever the next Souls game is.
This looks freaking cool. As a Die by the Sword fan, this can only be described as a dream come true.

Passed $150.000 after 1 1/2 days, with 28 left to go. There is a slight chance this might get funded...

Cool concept
what's Gabe doing there.

It is an awesome presentation by Mr. Stephenson btw.

6 days left and just about 4/5ths of the way to fully funded :)
Looking forward to seeing that gap close and the goal reached, the development of this tool set and the style of games it will create is very appealing. First person combat games could use a breath of fresh air :)

Closing that gap will be the hard part now. I'm not feeling overly optimistic, but I'll be one of the first ones to break the champagne if they manage to reach it.

I hear yah, I'm actually trying to scrounge up some more money (read: figure out what I can put off buying/paying for until later) so I can up my pledge to help narrow that gap a bit.
