Well we haven't really seen what EA can do with old IPs as typically they just leave them to gather dust. We know Take Two aren't very sympathetic towards old IPs. But that said, XCOM would have been reasonably interesting if it wasn't for the name.

Well, i remember their early approach to KNOWN IPs.. like Ultima 8 or C&C.. ;) We can hope, but i'd prefer to stay cool on Syndicate and bet my hopes on stuff like Dungeons and JA2/3. ;)
I still don't know what the new XCOM has to do with the other XCOM titles apart from a very wide term "aliens". I wonder if it will actually HAVE the Extraterrestrial Combat Unit [X-COM].

C&C never really stopped being a current IP for them though. Well, now it has. Even if they had planned to continue the series there's no way it could have survived Twilight.
As for Ultima, they'd already butchered that cash cow with UO. There simply wasn't any integrity left in the series after that point. But that was a long time ago. EA are still shitheads, but in a totally different way now. :D
XCOM strikes me like a prelude to what they plan on making out of the series. It's basically about the forming of XCOM. Which could mean that subsequent editions to the series are more true to what the series should be about. But naturally that's wishful thinking, and for a game that we can't hope to see any time soon.

This game does seem kind of cool. I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Paradox are publishing some pretty neat games these days.

New trailer. The rail networks are certainly looking good.

I really hope they will extend the concept, like implement missions and stuff to give you a bit of a challenge apart from your main mission. That was basically why I loved Railroad Tycoon 2, you could win the game fairly easy, but for the gold medal you had to rush and risk, and there was always an extra task behind the next corner.

Oh wow, that looks amazing. As a huge fan of OTTD, I must say I am extremely envious of people with a decent gaming laptop right now.
